Does this work on paint peeling off painted drywall

I have a home I am buying that was painted with latex over another unknown paint over drywall. The top layer is peeling , it was painted within the last 3 months. What would you recommend other than scraping off all the paint in the entire room , is there a primer that would adhere to the paint that is not peeling yet ? My concern is will it hold in future ?
Asked by: Linda
Happy to help Linda! Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free of dust, dirt, excessive chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax, mildew, wallpaper, adhesive or any contamination that may interfere with adhesion of Rust-Oleum Zinsser Peel Stop Triple Thick Primer. Scrape loose and peeling paint from the surface and wash with detergent or soap and water. Sand any remaining paint film edges smooth. Always test a small area to ensure acceptable adhesion.

peeling paint on outdoor treated wood?

I have peeling paint on the railing of a deck but i can't fit between the uprights to sand it. would this work there? what's the difference between the white and clear? besides the color, i suspect a different formula.

The exterior window sills were pretty beat up and peeling. I knocked off the main, loose part and applied PeelStop. Worked great!

1-qt. Peel Stop Triple Thick White Binding Primer (Case of 4) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Appears to stop wholesale peeling of carport soffit. It took about 9 months for the Behr Premium Plus Ultra to begin peeling, but when it did, it came off in sheets. The "Peel Stop" appears to have stopped the peeling... after scraping the entire soffit to remove approximately 90+ % of the Behr paint. The scraped surface was then coated with "Peel Stop" and top-coated with the "Behr" finish-coat-and-primer-in-one. I suppose time will tell if the peel stop works.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I was hoping to find a thick primer, and the Home Depot rep led me to this, but after applying it... I was hoping to find a thick primer, and the Home Depot rep led me to this, but after applying it to my interior door, it went on very thin, and was more like a clear coat of varnish, and not thick the way it is advertised on the can. Very misleading, so after applying half the can on the door, and after it dried it was only cloudy and never turned white, and was definitely not thick. So I had to return this can and pick up another quart of primer that dried white and looks much better than this Peel Stop Triple Thick. The Home Depot Rep at the Returns counter didn't want to exchange or give me a refund since I used almost half the quart, but she made an exception. How does the consumer know if the product works until they apply it? I have been a Home Depot stock holder for many years, so I was disappointed she gave me such a hassle, and I buy lots of products from Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dubious, but hopeful. The product is very thick ,and hard to spread. I did not think it would flatten out, but it did. It provided a very good base coat for oil-based enamel. Only one coat of the enamel was needed to cover real well. I had painted another similar aluminum surface without this primer, and it took several coats to get a finish that covered properly. Good buy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Primer Strange stuff. Consistency of heavy creamy paste, goes on unevenly but dries translucent and flat. It is supposed to provide better adhesion for finish paint coat so I suppose that is OK. It took 2 coats of Behr exterior paint to cover . Time will tell if this product will prevent paint from peeling.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I had expected this product to be rich in solids... I had expected this product to be rich in solids and have good blocking capability. It had very poor blocking, or cover over capability. What it did leave was a fairly thick, rubbery skin on the surface to which it was applied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Used on an interior wall over some badly peeling paint. It was like painting with elmers glue. I had to reapply traditional primer over top of it prior to painting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timesaver! This is more accurately a glue than a primer. Instead of sanding all the way down to raw wood this can glue and level the surface. A real time saver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good product The product did exactly what it said it would do. Was easy to apply, covered very good and didn't make a mess when applied.
