DIY Fall Porch Upgrade
The weather is getting cooler and the days are getting shorter… which means fall is almost here! Upgrading your front porch for the fall season is as easy as a few DIY projects and some fun fall-inspired decor! Here are some tips for making some solid first impressions this fall using materials, decor and tools from The Home Depot!
1. Upgrade Lighting
One of the easiest ways to upgrade your outdoor space is with new lighting! The Home Depot offers TONS of exterior lighting options for easy style and space, which makes it so easy to customize your porch.
Custom lighting doesn’t have to stop at your exterior wall lights. Adding flameless candles and lanterns to your entrance helps to warm up the space and make it feel fall-ready as well!
2. Accessorize
Adding small accessories like house numbers, a doormat, an upgraded mailbox or a new doorbell, are simple ways to add some extra spark to your home’s front porch!
And since we’re decorating for the fall, don’t forget to add your pumpkins and fall flowers (styling tip: you can easily add some depth by using similar planters and pumpkins in different sizes).
3. Winterize
While you’re adding small decorative changes, now is also a great time to winterize your front porch! You can do this by adding sealant to any cracks around your door frame and touching up any spots that might need some paint.
4. Plan for the Future
Plants are always the most amazing way to add some personality to your outdoor spaces, but think ahead! You’ll want to invest in plants that will survive late into the fall season or early into the winter months (this is also a great time to bring your summer plants indoor for the winter as well)!
5. Get Festive
Now that your porch is fall ready, it’s easy to get it Halloween ready with simple DIY projects like painting pumpkins. It’s also a great time to dig into that scrap pile and create some custom, spooky artwork like bat silhouettes!
Looking for a simpler way to add some Halloween decor? Sprinkle in some spooky-inspired planters to that porch decor!
All it takes is one weekend of work and after a few easy upgrades, your home will be ready for fall festivities!
