I have seen 3 questions asking how many square feet does a box cover and I seen 2 answers, I want to cover 410 square feet. Now 1 question on what color stain for the gray board with no answer can you help with this question. Thank you

Marty is right. Just remember, its going to take ALOT of planks to cover each wall. I'm covering 4 walls that's 16 ft long by 12 ft wide. Marty's calculations made it easy for me to buy what I needed without wasting money. I purchased 4, 6, and 8 ft long by 6" wide(5" really). Thanks Marty!

Is this material smooth on one side, suitable for painting?

Asked by: Rikity
Yes but the back is not meant for the outside surface, though it could be with a good primer and coat of paint. But then you would be better off with just getting normal pine tongue and groove boards as you would not get the weathered look that these boards are meant to look like.

We've had several pallet and shiplap walls in our home, but I didn't know how I would feel about the gray finish on this wood. I was worried that it might look too fake and too manufactured. When we opened the boxes, I was unhappy with the finish of the wood. However, once we got it out of the poor lighting in the garage and into more natural light, I was much happier with the stain on the wood. Once installed, the variations between each piece help make it look more authentic and less manufactured. I was happy that the weathered look and texture of each piece made the shiplap look more interesting once installed. Although a lot of cuts were required because we chose to install around a cased opening, it was generally a quick and easy installation. Half a day, a good saw, and a nail gun and you'll have an accent wall people will drool over!

We installed this in our home along two walls from the floor to chair rail height (approx 38"). We are so pleased with the look that we were able to achieve. We installed the boards directly over the drywall. We thought about using glue, but decided against it. We used rusty nails into the studs to give it a more weathered look. My favorite thing about the boards.....although they are not smooth, they are NOT too rough and they do not have a jagged surface that will snag clothing. We installed the boards in a low traffic area....just in case

We are going to do one wall with them and will have better pictures in a later review. The pictures that I took while out there do not reflect the real color for some reason, so I will get better ones when we go back. They are the red pine, but look more gray than red in the pictures that I took of them on the wall together. They do come in a variety of colors so no one should have a problem getting them to match their décor. I plan on getting a few more for building some cabinets in the cabin, as they look great. They look great though for a nice rustic look (or a shabby chic look as my wife says). Installation is easy as they can be nailed or glued on. As the manufacturer says, some cupping and warping may occur after you open them, but can be straightened as you put them up. I recommend placing all of the boards in the area that you are going to install them for several days before putting them on the wall, for acclimation purposes. The manufacturer also has a touch-up paint (Behr 8 oz. touch-up wood stain: Base 5077 / 8 oz. (CLRNT 384th, EL 5, FL 8, RL 24); printable chart available under Info & Guides) for any places that might need it. As I was installing, I had a few places that splintered off, so I will be getting some for this. I would say you could probably find a stain stick that would do the job as well, possibly a little cheaper.

Not fond of it so am replacing it with stacked stone. I have been looking for some old barn wood to make a mantle out of. Then I saw this wood and thought this might do the job. Could just make a box shaped mantle out of it and it would look like a solid piece of old barn wood. The color is a dark grey and the texture is rough so once you get it all together it looks like old wood repurposed. It is easy to work with because it is pine. But be careful you can split it easy if your fastener is to big. I am using a power brad nailer and it works well. It also glues very easy. Some of the wood is slightly cupped but straightens out once it is in place. It would also work very well for its intended purpose as ship lap on your walls. Very easy to install. Love the color.

Barn Wood Red Shiplap Pine Board (6-Pack) to do the walls of a larger closet as well. There is enough in this 6-pack to do an area of 18 feet by 8 foot! And best of all, it looks fabulous! Much better than plain old drywall! Your imagination is really your only limitation with this. We chose to hang it sideways. Besides looking beautiful, it also adds a small level of sound-proofing, on top of drywall, and I am sure adds to the R value of insulating the wall as well. Installation is a breeze with a air-powered nailer. I really love the rustic look it gives our house! Thanks Universal Forest Products, and Home Depot!

I am so happy with the look of my bedroom after installing this shiplap. My walls are all painted a pale blue but needed an accent wall. Didn't want to just paint it another color. This barn wood shiplap made all the difference. It gave the room what it needed. Texture. The color is an off white semi transparent paint. The texture is very rough but in this light color it is not too rustic for this somewhat formal room. The installation was pretty easy. I bought a battery powered brad nailer and along with my circular saw, and tape measure went to work installing it over the course of two afternoons. I only had trouble figuring out how much material was needed. It was hard to figure out because of cuts, waste, and the uneven overlapping of the boards. Some of the boards were warped. Some needed cut away of split wood. So I made sure I had some of all three lengths and trim. Some packages will go back. I started from the bottom as the pictures suggested. I would have preferred to start at the ceiling because in this room that's what shows the most. As the wall was progressing upward, and not wanting to start more packages or use small scraps to fill in, it was a planning game. Even though the first row on the bottom was level, the uneven overlapping was starting not to look level anymore. Another reason to want to start at the top. But the thing about the look of a wall like this, it does not have to be perfect, because that's some of the charm of a barn wood shiplap wall . This really is a good DIY project . This was done entirely by me without help. As there are many scraps, I will build a planter box for my flowers and paint it with exterior paint.

I am getting older and retired and have gotten back into model car building. Did it many years ago. Stress reliever and keeps me busy. Been looking for some nice wood that looked old and used to make shelves out of. This product is perfect. It comes pre-stained in a nice brown color. Looks like it came off an old barn but without all the cracks, splits and dirtiness. Cuts easily because it is pine. Also light weight but with small supports under it, made from the same wood, it holds all my models without sagging. Very easy to work with and looks like repurposed old wood. Would be easy to put up on the wall for its intended purpose as ship lap. I may do one of my walls in my bedroom with it.
