Active Ventilation Products Aura Ventilator is our optimum exhaust attic ventilation product line that has a patented engineered design to create CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) of air flow with no moving parts. It is an excellent choice to exhaust attic heat in the summer to reduce hot attic temperatures. And, to exhaust moisture in the winter to keep the attic dry and cool to preserve attic insulation and prevent ice dams. The Aura Ventilation product line is made of durable rust free aluminum. Model AV-14-C2 is made up of 3 components: the vent head, collar and flange. Model AV-14-C2 is a 14 in. Dia. vent with a 2 in. collar height and 19 in. x 19 in. sq. flange. It has 144 sq. in. of Net Free Air Space. Its low profile is best used for a sloped roof. When air moves against the louvers of the outer cylinder it is directed to create a circular airflow. The louvers of the inner cylinder face in the same direction as the air movement created by the outside cylinder. This air movement creates a Venturi effect which produces a vacuum or negative pressure to pull air from within the attic space. The vent head has a flat one piece spun lid that prevents rain and snow from entering the vent verses the turbine vent which is open to the sky and allows rain water to enter in no wind conditions. 5 year warranty.

can I use this on a flat roof?

Yes, I have it on my "flat" roof which has a slight grade of .25" per foot. The nice thing about the round shape is that the flow of water can easily go around it as oppose to a square skylight where water can get dammed up.

How much CFM does this unit move?

According to: https://roofvents.com/roof-vent/roof-vents-exhaust/aura-roof-vent-14-inch-diameter-2-inch-collar/ Wind 4 mph = 178 cfm, 5.2 mph = 200 cfm, 7.4 mph = 280 cfm, 9.8 mph = 315 cfm, 11 mph = 360 cfm. So, not as much air as a Turbine, but does this without moving parts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aura Vents work well I ordered 6 ,12 inch Aura Vents for my house in Corpus Christi, Tx. The vents were shipped in about 5 days for free. They were a good deal compared to the original manufacturers shipping costs from New York. It has been a very hot past 2 years here, and my house was built in 1984. The ventilation system was almost non existant. The under the roof eves were clogged and poorly made, The vents were painted over and packed with dirt. My attic was getting to 140 degrees or higher with outside temps about 95 degrees. I replaced all the under the eves vents with larger vents. I enlarged the holes with a jig saw. I screwed the new vents in with 1 and 1/2 inch screws. I have spaced the Aura vents along the peak ridge of my house. As soon as I cut the holes in my roof, with the jigsaw, the hot air was pouring out of the holes in my roof. I followed the instructions for installing the vents on a video about cutting the holes and pushing the base flanges under the shingles with tar sealant from a caulking gun. Then I screwed the flanges to the roof with 2 inch screws, using a cordless 18 volt drill. The Vent on the downwind side was too hot to touch from the hot air coming out of the louvers. We have high winds in Corpus, so these vents are good for windy areas. My attic is much cooler, especially after the temperature outside goes down. It is important to have air coming into the attic under the roof eves for the vents to act like a chimney sucking hot air out of the attic. Install the vent flanges over the tar paper but under the shingles. Drill holes for the screws into the flanges before taking the vents to the roof. These vents work well with wind on the windy side of the roof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Vent Ordered 3 14" Mill Finished roof vents. They arrived in about a week in good condition. Had them installed by a roofer without any issues. Two days after they were installed we had a series of pretty heavy thunderstorms with a lot of rain wind. I checked the attic for leakage during and after the storms and noted no evidence of water intrusion. In the process of doing some work in the attic I noticed that the heat in the attic was less and there was much more airflow through the attic access opening. I believe adding these vents will help reduce the excessive heat in the attic. I am pleased with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product Has nice low profile but I feel the flange could have been a little wider. After I I finished and secured it to the roof I put my hand over the vent I could feel the heat escaping from the vents, so I guess it was doing what it was ment to do.

The instructions should tell you to remove the top to install since you can't hammer easily around the top part. The marking for orientation should be on the base since that is the part that needs the seam down to prevent leaking. The screws that hold the top could be better - easy to strip when replacing. Recommend a nutplate be used instead of threading the sheetmetal.
