The FAQs document from Aquarest (on HD page) says you must specify 240v at time of purchase. I don’t see where to specify that. Please advise. Thanks

Answer

there are two 'versions' of this spa, one that cannot be converted, and one that can, which is generally specified with a 'p' after the model number - I have a 120v 15amp GFCI version, which works just fine and don't really see any need to have to 'convert' it to 240v, even if I could. A 240v version simply allows the initial heating to happen quicker, since it's using 'twice' as much power to the heater during that time, but otherwise, for everyday usage, you'll not see any need for 240v service.... just plug it into an outlet and let it do it's work! Easy!

Is there a hose attached for draining?

There is a short hose with a hose fitting on it for draining the spa. We have had ours in zero degree weather here in eastern WA and it works like a champ.

Can the spa and all piping handle salt and Epsom salts for therapeutic usage?

Asked by Jerry June 30, 2019

Answer

Please do not use salt on your spa. The spa is not built for salt not Epsom. In fact using any of these will completely void your warranty.

Just the right size for two adults. Seems to heat up quite rapidly, only 190 gallons. Good jets, two speeds, nice waterfall with rotating light colors. Thick insulated cover fits well and does retain heat. Can be folded and removed easily. Easy to get in and out.

To early to tell. Have only had it a week. So far it has met my expectations. Access door is not easy to access. Power of jets exceeded expectations. Over all I am well satisfied but we will see after a few months.

We love the hot tub! It was light enough for the delivery guy, myself and my wife to carry it into our backyard (my wife is strong). It works great on 120V! Only lost one degree after running the pump on high for one hour (the heater doesn't run when the pump is on high). The jets on our back and neck are very strong.

The spa started leaking two months after the 1 year plumbing warranty expired. With the roto molded construction, tracking down the leaks is nearly impossible. Aquarest customer service doesn't return phone calls. We paid about $2500 for the tub, definitely didn't get our money's worth.

We recently purchased this spa for use at our eastern WA residence. We are very satisfied with it. It was light enough for one person to move around. We purchased it because it has the option to rewire it for 220 which allows for simultaneous heater and jets operation. We are currently using it on a 120 circuit. I don't know if we will change it over to 220 since it seems to be working great just the way it is. During the winter here it gets down to 12 degrees or lower but the tub stays nice and hot. Most of the time we use it to soak vs using the jets and the water stays nice and hot. Two recommendations: First, I would recommend the factory include a starter chemical kit for those of us who are newbies to the spa world. Second, since we live in the country, we have problems with mice The access door to the spa has open sections which allow mice to enter. I modified our spa by installing metal screen on the inside of the door as well as where the power cord exits. See attached photos.

AR-300P Spa -- Excellent Value!

Our spa arrived after about 3 weeks (Florida to Los Angeles). I wasn't 100% thrilled with the shipping company, if I'm being honest. Their tracking system said it would arrive several days before it actually did, so I needed to postpone my electrician, once it became obvious it wasn't going to arrive "on time." It finally did arrive, and all was well. We opted for a 240v/50A installation, requiring an electrician. But for one night (while we waited for our electrician to arrive), we actually plugged it into a 110v outlet to see if it would work. It heated about 1 degree per 20 minutes or so (Los Angeles autumn evening), and by 7am my wife and I actually jumped in and enjoyed it for a while before our electrician arrived and we had to get out. I actually think the 110v worked pretty well, all things considered. We lost about 2 degrees in 20 minutes, running the pump on high. With 110v operation, the heater doesn't work, when the pump's on high. But it was stiill an enjoyable experience. If you don't want the hassle and expense of hiring an electrician, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by the 110v operation. But, tonight we sat in the tub with the full 240v/50A experience and it was sublime. Temperature stayed constant at 102 degrees for 1/2 hour with the pump on high and bubbles turned to max. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We played with the waterfall and the multi-colored lights. All in all, I don't think we could be much happier. I read somewhere that somebody thought the hot tub wasn't deep enough. Both my wife and I found it to be plenty deep. I'm 6'1" and was fully submerged if I wanted to be. The two seats are NOT identical. I find the seat on the left to be more reclined, and with the jets and bubbles on max, it almost floats me away. I prefer the seat on the right, to be 100% honest. But my wife will most often be there, as it's easier for her to sit there. The 300P model has an ozonator and a 2hp motor. I happened to notice that the ozonator's tube was twisted so tightly at one point that it couldn't freely pass ozone. I pulled some more tube slack and made sure it wasn't twisted so tightly. It's worth looking for, if you order this tub, as I'm sure the ozonator wouldn't have been doing anything otherwise. Tomorrow I'm gonna run some chemical tests to see how hard it is to stabilize the water. As of tonight, we're super excited and happy with our purchase.

I bought two of these hot tubs. One 110v and one 110v/220v (referred to as 220v from here on out). We have 7 hot tubs in operation at our properties, and these are the worst we have owned. First, be very careful ordering. At the time of my purchase, there were only 3 words different in the 110v version, and the 220v version listing on Home Depot. I accidentally bought the 110v version, and wanted the 220v version. The 110v version takes a whole day to heat up, whereas the 220v version can heat up in about 4-5 hours generally. Also, One of these tubs actually cracked, and is leaking. I'm on attempt 3 and can't get anything to stick / seal to this tub. To patch it you basically have to plastic weld it, and even with the proper tools, is a huge pain. The 110v version and the 220v version share no parts for the heating element or controller. For information sake, I'll also note that if you do get the 220v version, the heating assemblies are $150 and are a sealed unit. No replaceable elements. The controller for the 220v is complete junk. If the water is low (people leave these low ALL THE TIME), it causes a high temp situation, and burns up the heating element. NONE of my other tubs do this. They have better thermal protection. Shame on you Balboa, all of your other internals I have used outperform this one. We have purchased $750 in elements in 2 1/2 years. We've done probably $150 of serviceable elements for other hot tubs in the same time frame. On a more positive note, I really do like the couples seating arrangement of these the best out of all our hot tubs. It is a shame the body cracked on one, and the 220v spa pack is complete garbage.
