Questions & Answers

can you take the two pans out from under the grids and use this grill as an open flame grill? I feel like the grill roasts like an oven

Asked by: Michelle
Thank you all for your responses. I saw 2 mistakes I made. One was that the grids were on upside down... the flat side was up so the steaks had no grill marks at all. The bigger mistake was that I didn't heat the grill long enough. I see thats going to make a huge difference in the appearance and the taste. Thank you again for your quick responses... and might I add... I'm loving this grill now that I know how to use it!!!

can this grill be adapted to natural gas instead of propane tank

Asked by: scooterg
Char-Broil.com can answer that question. I believe it can. Many Char-Broil models have this option.

Do you have to pre-season the grill prior to using for the first time?

Asked by: Abe
Yes, that is simple to do. Heat it up cover it in cooking oil after it cools. Replacement grids are $44 each and it has four of them so take care.

It is always covered when not in use. The pan above the burners has rusted through. The igniter does not work (tried changing battery). I was excited to buy the grill due to the infrared technology to get away from flare-ups. It does that, but other issues make it not worth it.

How on earth can they make a grill that does not do what it is suppose to do? I check my regulator and replaced it. I actually followed Youtube instructions on how to make sure the regulator is working. It's working. Let me put things in perspective. A grill has to get hot and I mean hot! A grill has to get into the 650 degree range to sear. This hunk of aluminum will not get past 550 on a 90 degree day. So if its cold out like 20 degrees your lucky to get it to 450 degrees. The design is so bad that someone who designed it has never grilled. No way this product would ever make to market if I was in the meeting. IT DOES NOT GET HOT ENOUGH!!! DO NOT BUY A CHAR BROIL PRODUCT!!! Please hear me! Do not buy a Char Broil Product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware of this rust bucket I've had my charbroil infrared grill for about 3 years now and after 3 months everything starts rusting inside. I Have replaced the guts twice already and the same ole problem. If you like to cook steak in a oven then this grill is for you. Better off cooking steak in your oven in side. Don't waste your money and purchase a weber. The reviews don't lie.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from They don't make em like they used too. This lasted 2.5 years. The ignition switch broke first, followed by the fireboxes. After the first few months, it settled out, and the doors don't close easily. This grill, in my opinion, is an expensive cheep grill, if that makes sense. For the quality, you shouldn't have to pay more for a grill that doesn't even last two years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really happy with this grill This grill holds up well to manufacturers performance claims: Even heat - definitely No flare-ups - definitely Infrared penetration - yes Juicier meat - yes Faster cooking - maybe For me, the first two items alone are of such benefit that this is the best grill I've ever used. An additional benefit is that there is no grease trap or mess, and the pans are easy to pull out and clean off. I saw previous reviews of these Char-broil grills that quality was not great. I did have a bad temperature gage when I got it, but company sent a new one and all has been good since then. I've had the grill for a year now and not having any rust issues at all. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as well built as the previous model. The updated burner is improved but overall this model has lower build quality than the older model. I purchased the older version 5 years ago and have loved it. The older version was 95% stainless. This new model only has a stainless lid and doors. The rest is not stainless. Looks over function.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Grill! The grill was a chore to assemble because of so many parts but once it was together it seems pretty nice. Only cooked on it once so far but it did our pork chops perfect!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible. We bought this top of the line Charbroil grill from Homedepot after their employees said it was the best grill that they sell. The igniter went out the first month and now the burners have quit working after using it about 10 times over only 1 year. Now they won't take it back and the manufacturer requests you spend a ton of money to send it back to them No Thanks. Don't buy this grill or anything from Charbroil.
