Q:Will this work for a 27? spread?

A:  Not really sure, I got them some time ago and they were so clunky and unwieldy, plus the covers were falling apart that I took them back and got some Irvin ones instead. They are not near s good as they used to be, but at least I can use them. I have used DeWalt tools for years and always loved them, but their hand tool quality and useability have really gone downhill lately,

    A:  The DWHT83149 can be used as a spreader by removing the screw. It does not reverse as a clamp.

      A:  I would say that they were adding up the total claimed clamping force utilizing two clamps since this is sold as a set. The handle is made of plastic and I would not trust it for 200lbs of force. This is my opinion only and I have no intention of testing the tool to those limits.

        Best Clamps I Ever Owned
        Best clamps I ever owned. Nothing cheap about these clamps. Very sturdy and very well made. Should last a very long time. Feels good in my hands. Easy to use with just a single hand. Just the right size for my needs. I have an upcoming project to make a flower box for the wife. These clamps will allow me to glue the pieces together instead of nailing.
