A: For the easiest drilling experience through a 4x6 wooden post, I would recommend using an Auger. Our DAG3030 is of similar size as the SpeeDemon. To check it out, just search homedepot.com for Product #DAG3030. The SpeeDemon can get through, but an auger would be easier.

When you need the reach in a tough scenario.

Used this tough and quick self propelling and extra long bit for chewing up the remains of a couple old posts the broke off in some concrete that had to remain. I got all the rot out like a backyard dentist and i wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of my diablo 1 inch by 16 inch speed bore in hand.

Head snaps off

I bought one to go through a floor joist. 2 holes in the head snapped off. Figured I got a bad one so I went and bought another. Now I’m sitting here with to broken cheaply made spade bits.

Broke with FIRST USE!

Purchased this item on 11/22/22 to run some electrical wiring in my basement through 2x8s with my DeWalt battery drill. Maybe got through 5 single boards before the tip/guide snapped off in the wood - had to finish the rest with a traditional 1/2 drill bit. I didn’t even get to the three 2x8s that were sistered together.

Excellent Spade Bit

The Diablo SPEEDemon Spade Bit is just that, it's a speedy bit that cuts through wood without issue. These are my favorite bits for deep cuts where a regular wood bit just isn't going to cut it. These bits are really strong and durable and last a long time. The threaded end really grabs the work piece, forcing the cutting end down and through without issue. A couple things to keep in mind, once the little cutting ears on the ends wear down to nothing, the bit really doesn't work anymore. Also, because the tip grabs and pulls towards the piece, if the blade gets jammed up on a piece of metal, it's going to yank your drill hard so be careful.

I needed 16 inch long bit for wood, and it was not available from well known traditional brands. Diabolo bit designed to look good on the store shelve. However, it screws into wood too fast and get stack. It was impossible to drill until I grinded off the thread on the tip screw. Now I know, that traditional form of the spade bit is for a good reason.
