Q:Will this work for 5/8" Owens engineered flooring?

Answer This Question

A:  Yes! This is a heavy duty professional nailer / stapler. Since it is pneumatic... powered by air, its only limitation is the air supply you give it. Remember, even when you use thinner flooring, this still drives nails fully into the subfloor, which is more than 5/8ths, engineered plywood. So it is designed to handle that pressure easily, all day long. Use good fasteners, a drop or two of oil every few hours and a healthy compressor. It will pay for itself on the first day! ;-)

What an excellent tool. Love the five-year warranty, the big hammer, the choice of fasteners, the swiveling air attachment. Worked as promised straight out of the box. Staples go exactly where they're supposed to with the changeable bottom plate. After watching a how-to video, wife and I worked out a workflow, and we put down our 3/4-inch red oak boards with no gaps and no jams. One of the best single purpose tools I've ever bought.

    High quality flooring nailer
I find myself using air powered tools more and more, and this floor nailer is a welcome addition to my set of air tools. My first impressions was of the quality of the nailer and the included accessories. The padded carrying case should keep the nailer looking like new for years. The instructions are excellent and the tool was easy to load and use. So far it has not jammed once, which speaks well of the quality of the tool. Besides the intended use of the tool for installing flooring for which it has performed flawlessly, I have a future project that requires fastening together multiple layers of OSB. Because of the 45 degree angle that this nailer fires, its maximum penetration is reduced to 1.4 inches for 2 inch fasteners which is enough for my needs. The 45 degree angle means I can get better resistance to separation by setting the fasteners in pairs with a 180 degree rotation.

Quality control seems to be poor, and I guess these are going out the door without being inspected first. Below was my experience so far. This nailer/stapler seems to be good. I bought it in the summer and just now got around to using it for the first time yesterday. I was excited to get the project going and nothing looked wrong with the nailer. Loaded the only 16G cleats HD had in stock (Dewalt). The nailer wouldn't shoot. I tried a different strip of cleats, nothing looked out of the ordinary, but they wouldn't load all the way either. I opened it up and it appeared that the cleats are not pushed all the way down. Just to finnish up I have to manually push the magazine slide down and they shot perfect. Over all it seems like it should be a good product, but this is a catastrophic failure for any professional and increases the time exponentially not to mention being frustrating. Not sure if I can return since I'm now past 90 days from purchase. First cleat nailer I have owned, but I've used many brands and this is by far the worst experience because of poor quality control.

Nailer worked perfect. It worker better and was more comfortable to use than some of my more expensive nailers. There where two cons 1. limited nail capacity and the mallet face split on the first floor.
