Hi Home Depot Customer, The working load limit (WLL) for this chain is 255 lbs. This is the maximum working load limit that should be applied in direct tension to a new and undamaged chain. The breaking or failure strength is not specified in the product information. It is important to always adhere to the working load limit and to regularly inspect the chain for any damage or deterioration. If any damage is present, discontinue use immediately. 225# working load per chain strand so 450lb weight limit per bench swing?

Answer This Question

The chain has a working load limit of 255 lb. Multiple pieces of this chain would still total a WLL of 255 lbs., it would just spread the load over all of the pieces.

Does Home Depot cut it for you according to how much you need? For e.g. If I need 2 feet of it.

You can, but depends on the weight, sections of 5 ft are kind of wide, and the strength of the tube your going to use. Don't forget how to setup the chain to the wall.

I would use a stud finder to fix the joists in your ceiling, screw eyebolts into those, and hang your chains from those.

            Tie-Down loops!
cutting one link from a length of chain (wastes links either side, net is half the number of links) provides a convenient loop to screw to walls, even outside concrete or bricks if using masonry screws - for tie-down points of guy-ropes, guy-wires, etc. Lays flatter if the longer half of the link is bent about 20 degrees in a vise...

All I am using this for is to keep a chicken coop door open. It's light enough that its easy to use, and way stronger than I needed. I'm very happy with it.
