The edge bent on the first day of using it....
The edge bent on the first day of using it. It bent in several places, plus tore in one spot. It is definitely not hardened steel. Spend the extra $10 for the Fiskars heavy duty, which is almost indestructible.

    Poor design
Quality is totally great, design, not so much. Blade is nice shape and plenty sharp for brush, but the handle design is so poor it’s as if it was never tested. I have slightly larger hands but the grip is significantly too short. The bottom of the grip has two protrusions to help keep the handle from slipping out of your hand, but with the slashing motion needed to use a machete it torques the little suckers right into your palm. Used for a few feet of blackberries and immediately had a hot spot. I’ve gone hours with a cheap blade, will have to return.

      What a Swing Blade
Wow, a nicely balanced blade that is sharp to boot. The handle is a soft grip style and fits your hand like a glove. It does not come with a scabbard but it has a hang hole in the tip of the blade. It is sharp right out of the box and then it is easy to sharpen with the proper tools. This blade makes me want to run into the bush and carve a path. I had on when I was in Vietnam, it was a sharp blade and had a sharpener built into the scabbard. It had a funny curved blade that sometimes caused you to swerve on a chop. This blade is nice and straight and when you swing its a nice clean cut and all of your muscle power goes into the blade and cut. The only thing that would have been better was a scabbard to store it in. Its to sharp just to throw down on a work bench, I am sure it would bite me when I reached for something else that had been thrown on the bench. Use it SAFELY.

      Great for clearing brush
I'd used a machete as a kid to help clear some light brush and grasses. When I purchased a house I found I needed a new machete. The Fiskar 22 inch machete provides a large steel blade with a soft rubberized handle. It at 22 inches it provides good speed when swinging and thus does a good job of clearing brush. The blade itself arrived duller than i would like, so after my initial tests I spent a few minutes sharpening the blade. The sharper option does provide a much better cut, and with less effort. I also used the newly sharpened blade to take down a small 2" weed-tree that had been bothering me for a few months. Only took about 30 swings or so, which is pretty good. I'm docking ¼ star for the dull to start blade. and ¾ stars because it does not come with a sheath of some sort. Instead it is being stored in its white cardboard box it was sold in. Would also be nice if the end came with a small leather strap, not to worry, I added my own. I'm pleased with the machete, does what it should. A little machete tip - if you are going to be weeding, use a walking stick and put it in front of the leg opposite to the swinging arm. This a) gives you something to lean on and helps your back hold out longer, and b) acts as a guard should you not slow down / stop in time. Rather than hitting your leg, you get the walking stick. far fewer stitches.

      Decent
This machete comes without a sheath or anything to store it in other than the cardboard packaging, so if you want to carry it in a protective carrying case, etc. you will need to purchase separately. It does have a hole in the handle so you can hang in the garage on a hook, add a loop to the handle, etc. The blade is very sharp and the handle provides excellent grip. It is not too heavy and is easy to use to hack at brush, etc.

      Great machete
This machete is sharp right out of the package! It does a great job cutting small brush and bamboo around our job site. Once it starts to loose its edge we'll just use the tabletop grinder to sharpen it. Good grip keeps it from slipping from your hands.
