Works perfectly!
When I received the welding helmet I unpacked it and removed the pull tab from the batteries, installed one of the protective plastic shields over the glass lens, that's all it takes for the set up. I tried it out on my pool light retainer ring (a tab had broken off) the lens was nice and clear but as soon as the sparks started to fly it instantly turned dark. their are 3 adjustments for the darkness and time delay, also has a very good adjustment for tension to hold mask up and one for fit.

I can't speak for how the helmet functions, but I returned it after ordering online for someone else because of a dragon design that is on one side of the helmet.

The only way to weld
After using a regular and an older auto-darkening helmet I couldn't believe how far they have come. The time to darken and un darken is instantaneous with a smooth transition between. I am not a professional welder as such but with a good helmet like this it sure helps the finished product. You don't have to flip up and down and you eyes are always on your work. Always make sure your battery is good and check your auto-dark with a lighter or match, better than with an arc.

Does what it is supposed to do
This helmet fits nicely and is comfortable to wear. It also is adjustable to fit smaller heads...it fits my kid as well as me. You put on the helmet and lower the visor, but the glass remains clear until you strike an arc. Then the glass immediately darkens. You can adjust the sensitivity as well as the degree to which the glass darkens, so you can use it in multiple environments. This will become a part of the flux core welding center I am putting together in my school shop and I will probably buy at least two more of these...in different colors of course!

Modern welding helmet
This auto-darkening helmet has become one of my most useful tools for several types of welding that we do in our garage and field jobs. The initial control settings and adjustments did take a while to get it right but after that the helmet works fine. We had a another helmet that was damaged by welding too close but this Advantage series lens provides a better image without needing to get too close to the weld. The helmet head adjustments are better and don't required readjustments. The grinding mode is handy but limited to light grinding.

WONDERFUL WELDING HELMET
Right out of the box, this helmet has striking, vibrant color and visual appeal. It may not stay looking that good for long, depending on how close one gets to their work and their choice of welding types, (Mig, tig or stick). I prefer TIG myself as it is much cleaner and a better process in my book. Set up is very easy. Batteries for auto darkening are not active until you remove the tab from them. Choose your settings for time delay and how dark you'd like it and your ready to go. It's very nice to not have to shake your head for the helmet to drop. The fit is good with easy adjustment for tightness etc. IF I can keep my son from borrowing it constantly, I expect it to last for several years. I have not looked into battery changes yet, but don't believe it will be to difficult.
