Looks Good
Space needed for an area to eat. The butcher block was a nice addition. The picture shown has cabinets and the butcher block. More cabinet space so we added upper cabinets and the pantry cabinet. Instead of lower cabinets we used the butcher block for a counter.

Utility Room Counter
Beautiful. Perfect for over our washer and dryer. Difficult to cut with my circular saw but I was able to get some help from a friend with the right tools.

1st block has a giant crack town the middle. HD customer service was great, at least and sent replacement, but that ALSO had a crack (but much smaller), AND the bottom is all scuffed up! This crack was much smaller though so I just kept it, an left the scuffing on the bottom. Also all 4 corners were beat up on both. Good news is desk looks great! But if I was putting it in a more public place or I was a professional installing this for a client, this would not have worked. Bottom line: beautiful product, but packaging/shipping is significantly lacking.

Thank you for your feedback.
That sounds like a terrible experience. We will work with our packaging experts to find a solution for future customers. Our apologies HFAria

***Do not waste your time or money***
I received my online order today(three 8' countertops), I didn't look at the other two countertops before calling Home Depot to come pic the junk up. When I saw the first blemish I thought no big deal, the second one I was planning on just flipping it over, by the third I was aggravated to say the least, but by the forth I was just done. For the record Home Depot customer service was great! But I will never waste my time ordering any of their items on-line again.

We received the product very quickly. Our professional carpenter stained and sealed both pieces with Waterlox sealer which he has used on all of his products. He noticed that the butcher block had a slight bow to it. After placing it on our countertops he realized the bow was bigger than he realized, to the point that we can't get the counter level. He said in his 30 years of carpentry he has never had this issue, but he also has never used this brand. Very disappointed and a waste of $500.

Solid product, easy to work with.
I bought both the 98" and 50" pieces of this butcher block in Unfinished Beech during a basement renovation to make a laundry countertop with backsplash, two shelves, mud room bench top, and two cutting boards out of the leftover pieces. I am very happy with how easy this product was to work with and how it turned out. Each pieces comes well packed with plastic corner protectors, shrink wrap to keep in the moisture and prevent warping, and layers of cardboard all around to avoid dings while in shipping. Cutting went smoothly with sharp blades. I used a 7"1/4 circular saw, jig saw, hole saw, miter saw, biscuit joiner, plunge router, and pocket hole jig without issue. To keep the circular saw on track for the long rip cuts I used a Bora clamp on guide which I found very helpful. Finishing - The cutting boards got slathered in Watco cutting board oil. I like the colour of this wood so I chose not to stain any of it. Everything else I finished with water based polyurethane (2 coats on the bottom to moisture seal it, 4 coats on top). Turns out polyurethane around a sink is a bad idea as it will discolour and erode if any water is left standing on it so I'll be refinishing the laundry countertop with something else soon, probably an FDA approved oil of some sort, rookie mistake but maybe writing this review will help someone else avoid the extra work.

          Poor glue joints
I do a lot of butcher block counters, this was the first time using this brand. I was hesitant about using this because of the finger joints. I had to cut this butcher block down to have it fit, one of the cuts went right across one of the finger joints. The finger joints did not have enough glue in them and came apart right at the joint. Thoroughly disappointed. When you're doing counter tops for customers, you don't want these joints coming apart, or filling things with wood filler. Unfortunately, this is just expensive firewood for me now.

Wow. That is not good. We must have had a bad glue joint. Our apologies. We will work on this pronto. HFAria
