Questions & Answers

Will the light dim if I buy dimmable LED bulb?

If I buy dimmable LED GU24 bulbs, can I dim the light using the remote control?
Asked by: eli
My fan came with dimmable LED bulbs included. If you push and hold the light button on the remote it will go dimmer and then brighter. Stop where you want it. It worked this way for me out of the box. It is in the manual.

Can the direction of the fans be changed by the remote.

I need a manual for this fixture. light bulb went out. Need to see if I can purchase a replacement, and how to install.
Asked by: JG
Home Depot has replacement bulbs, just take the old one for correct type. One the glass cover don't over tighten, leave loose, or will be very difficult to remove.

I have three fans. Can I program my remotes to work on only one fan light ?
Asked by: Spyder
Thank you for your question. The remote and receiver have dip switches that can be set to different settings so that each remotely controls the desired fan and not the others. Please download the installation guide from the "Info & Guides" section on the product page online for detailed information on setting the dip switches.

Two years ago I bought two of the older style florescent pin base fans in the Brushed Nickel color for my girls rooms. I loved how much air those fans pushed. I've been looking to replace the fans in our master bedroom and had been looking for something different than the Brushed Nickel color when I found the Oil Rubbed Bronze color as the deal of the day recently. The two fans were nearly 50% off so it made the choice easy! This fan is very straightforward to install. The installation instructions and the construction of the fan wiring is optimized for a single switch installation. My biggest issue with these fans is that I don't do the typical installation of one light switch and using the included remote for installation. Our house was built with separate switches for the fan and the light and due to the high ceilings all the fans need to have an extension rod. I have installed three speed fan control switches and all the lights are on a basic non dimmer switch. For the install I connected the long fan lead but had to clip the end that attaches to the remote receiver. After that wiring to the ceiling junction box was relatively simple, green ground wires together, white neutral wires together, black switched wires together, and colored (blue from the fan, red from my wall switch) wire together. Minor issue with the long length downrod that I had to purchase separately, the ground wire screw from the short included downrod didn't fit the matching hole on the longer downrod so I had to find something that fit from my "fix it" collection. The new fans ARE slightly noisier than the 20 year old Hampton Bay builder grade fans they replaced, however I think most of the additional noise is due to the curved blades pushing a lot more air than the older fans. As others have mentioned the included bulbs are not super bright. The LEDs are an improvement from the old CFLs. I notice that the CFLs don't put out as much light in my girls rooms but in any case the fan light is for general room lighting, not task lighting so it meets our needs. One other note about the light while you can't see it in the photos, the bulbs make two distinct "bright spots" on the glass globe.

It really moves the air around too. It has 3 speeds and I usually use the 2nd and 3rd speeds. I read some reviews saying the light was not bright enough but I like the warm glow it gives the room instead of a harsh light and its plenty bright enough to read by. I have other lamps that I use anyway. I like the color it matches my brick fireplace and decor and it's very modern looking. I purposely picked this one out because the remote controller does so much. I have a 2 story house so I chose a 36" down rod to match and it's perfect.

After I paid to have an electrician install it, four months later the motor died. It is taking months to get Home Depot to make things right and I need the fan now because it is the summer and it is hot. It cost me $250 to have the fan installed by an electrician, now the fan is inoperable and it isn't even a year old yet and Home Depot wants to send me a part and tell me to repair the fan myself (so I can get electrocuted?) Cute red fan, nice price, but very soon your cute fan will be in your ceiling but won't move nor will the lights come on and all Home Depot will do is give you excuses. This fan is MADE IN CHINA and is part of the HOME DEPOT line of products called HOME DECORATIONS COLLECTION. HOME DEPOT markets and sells the fan online at HOMEDEPOT.COM/HOMEDECORATIONS. If you are still thinking about buying this fan because you like the nice price, check out other reviews on line and you will see that many other people who have purchased HOME DECORATION fans (marketed by Home Depot) also are complaining about the same thing: that shortly after they purchased the fan, the motor stopped working. Spend the extra money and buy a GOOD ceiling fan that has QUALITY AND VALUE, plus a company willing to stand behind the fan so you won't have to keep spending even more money because you purchased a defective ceiling fan you have to send more money to have removed. --- HOT ALL SUMMER BECAUSE MY CEILING FAN IS GARBAGE

I LOVE light so I'm not sure if I will keep it. I plan on trying what another reviewer said and buy a converter and install 75-100 watt bulbs. I put in 60 watt LED and I think they are as bad as the included CFL's. The style and wind output is fantastic. I used to have a fan with 3 lights and 3 100 watt LED. I even removed the GLASS shades so this fan is not doing it at all light wise. i don't know what to do BC this is my 2nd fan in @3 weeks and the light is terrible. Today's fans for the most part have integrated LED in soft white and no daylight/bright white system to exchange out the soft white. Why not start with DAYLIGHT and then you can dim it if you like darker? It seems so simple a fix. You can go from bright to dark but you cannot go dim to start with to bright. Definitely not energy efficient BC I need to turn on several other lights to see in my room.

I also have 2 Windward II fans from years ago that are still going strong. I just wish they would've stayed with the same remote, where you can forward/reverse from it rather than the top of the fan. Also, no holder/case to mount to the wall for the remote, like with the Winward II. Other than those minor issues, the fan is great. Installation is fairly straightforward - just be sure to place the fan receiver in the little slot that's designated for it. Best to google to see where it goes otherwise you may spend a while trying to figure it out if you're not an instruction reader.
