Q:What is the flow rate of this carbon filter? Which carbon filter for the home master system would have the best flow rate?
by|May 6, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Up to 20 gpm. This one and the purple cap have the same flow rate, but the purple cap has more powerful filtration. The Upflow filter features the most powerful filtration across a broader range of contaminants, but its flow rate is up to 10 gpm.

Q:Will this filter trap radon if there is radon present in my well water?

        Answer This Question

A:  GAC filters will work depending on the levels of radon. I’ve been using this filter in a 2 stage setup for 2 years now (change filters annually) and it works great. If your levels are high (above 5,000 pCi/L) you should use an aeration setup. Have your water tested.

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  To best answer that question you need to call the company.

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  On the manufacturers web site they give a partial list of chemicals and organic contaminants that the filter removes or reduces (it is a fairly extensive list). There is nothing listed regarding radon. Not much help, that's all I could find. Good Luck

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  thank you both for answering, I actually dont want a filter that will trap any Radon since it can collect in the filter and it would be radioactive... which 1. requires hazardous waste disposal and 2. every time we would be near it would run the risk of exposure. if there is radon I prefer it to just dissipate into the air.

A:  The first step in selecting a well water treatment system, is to test your water, and select a course of treatment based upon the actual test results. Please google Home Master The Perfect Water FAQ Well Water System Questions

Q:Will this filter stop rotten egg smell with minimum pressure drop?

                  Answer This Question

A:  Maybe. It depends on your water composition - what is causing the odor and amount present. Please reach out to us with a copy of your water quality report and we will make a recommendation. 877-693-7873 M-F 9am to 5pm MST.

A:  No. The smell of rotten eggs comes from your water heater. I installed a pre filter to catch any sediment. The main cause of the smell is the anode rod inside. when a lot of particles build up it gives off the odor. Every three months or so I shut off the water, open the filter and fill it with peroxide twice letting it flow into the tank by turning the water back on. Do you notice the smell is worst when the hot water is running? Give it a few days and the smell should be gone. If it persists you may want to change the anode rod to a new one. This should cure your problem.

                    Works Well, But Replace Often
I installed the Perfect Water Whole House 3 Stage Filtration System about 6 months ago and already needed to replace the Carbon and Iron filters due to a stench in the water. We are only 2 people here using the water, so I am somewhat disappointed that the filters required replacement so quickly. However, they seem to do a good job. After running the water a bit, the new filters cleared up the foul smells, and we are now comfortable with using the water again. FYI, our contaminants include Sulfur (concentration unknown), Iron (0.172 mg/L), and Manganese (0.326 mg/L). Manganese is off the charts for our area, and these filters have prevented any staining of sinks/showers/toilets.

Only one filter of the three filters was in a box. Also, the small grease tube that usually comes with each filter is missing. Also I changed the credit card I am using but you did not honor.
