Q:Can this be used to scrape off the rubber from an old kitchen runner carpet without damaging the floor?

Answer This Question

A:  Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, The Husky 2in scraper is a great tool for removing stubborn residue from most surfaces. However, we can not say if the floor you are concerned about would get damaged. That could depend on the condition of the floor, how much force is used when scraping and the angle of the tool when the force is applied

A:  The blade itself is steel. The handle is plastic and rubberized material with a metal end. If it fails for some reason it has a lifetime guarantee!

A:  The blade seems to be, the handle is a firm shaped grip-able plastic (rubberized) that feels good in my hand and has shallow depressions where I place my thumb in any of 4 positions.

I have many scrapers that I use and I put this one right with the other ones. It has a durable handle and the end is metal so you can pound nails in that may be sticking out. The handle is very comfortable and I prefer a 1.5 blade but this scraper is a nice addition to my painters box. The stiffness of the blade allows for heavy scraping. I would definitely recommend this product.

Its a pretty standard putty knife / scraper. The handle is a good width, comfortable, and provides a good, non-slip grip. Note that the blade is definitely stiff - it has essentially no flex to it. So the blade is slightly thicker than those that would have some flex to them. The edge of the blade is slightly tapered such that its thinner but not to the point of being sharp. I think it will work well for thicker/heavier applications or some heavy duty scraping.

Another excellent Husky product! Very stiff scraper tool. I use it mostly when scraping walls and floors while putting in a new floor on concrete. Handle is just right in the hand and steel is tough and takes a beating! It is also great for scraping off paint on the outside of your house. The 2 inch size is just right for getting into any area. There ya go!

I love Husky's new scrapers and putty knifes, I already have one of their 1-1/2" flexible putty knifes and one of their 14 in 1 painters tools both of which also have the excellent handle and beater cap on the end so you can hit them with a hammer and not break the handle. The handle on these is extremely nice it has a good amount of grip and is nice and ergonomic and is easy to clean off, I also like that it has an eyelet so that I can hang it on my pegboard wall and I think their new black and white theme is really snazzy looking! The blade on this is very nice and stiff with just a little give and should make for an excellent scraper and also could be used as a putty knife as well. I like how the hammer end is not just a cap that's been inserted into the handle but it is actually attached to the blade and goes all the way thru the handle. They also put a nice coating on the blade on these to help prevent them from rusting which is nice and it is pretty tough and will last a good long time before it gets scraped off. I highly recommend all of Husky's scrapers and putty knifes with the black and white handles because they are superior tools, they may cost a couple bucks more than lesser brands but they are much higher quality and worth the price, you will not regret getting one of these!

Husky 2 in. Stiff Putty Knife is a good one. Of all the knifes I have and have plenty, the small putty knife is the most used for the most different things. Its my go to knife from spackling wall dings to working outside on my concrete steps. This one is an oversized tool, stiff so more for heavy duty work than plaster work. Another reason why these are so useful could be its two inches wide and fits into so many more places. It doubles as a middle grade scrapper, too. Like other good scrappers has a metal end to use as a small hammer to push down small brads that are popping up or to use with a mallet. I should mention the handle that is large and fits comfortable in your hand. I've had several putty knifes they wear out and rust. Not sure about this one seems to be the same, but thicker so we'll have to see how it holds up over time. As with Husky tools it comes with a lifetime warranty so there is that. I like this larger putty knife and see it coming in handy for more rougher tasks.

The Husky 2" stiff scraper is great for scraping but also many other tasks. It has a very comfortable grip and has a hole in the handle so you can hang it on a nail or pegboard, when not in use, making it easy to find. The handle has a metal end so you can use a hammer to chip off stubborn material. I used my old scraper that does not have as good a handle to mix small batches of hydraulic cement. Hydraulic cement sticks to concrete but also stick to the blade so you have to hammer it to chip it off. This scraper is guaranteed for life so should it fail you can take it back to the Home Depot for replacement.

Stiff putty knife is what it's called and that's exactly what it is. The construction of this knife is solid. It is durable enough to hold up well under hard use over time. Let's face it. We all use these things for glazing windows, patching drywall, scraping the underside of the mower deck as well as many other approved and not so approved tasks. The point I am trying to make is that it holds up to the regular stuff but is also solid and strong enough to do the crazy stuff too. No so long ago I used one of these to cut a section of garden hose. I was pounding it with a hammer and it actually cut through the rubber. One tough cookie.

Another good Husky product... stiff and comfortable.
This is a nice 2" scraper. It's stiff which I like for drywall repairs and the occasional light pry or paint scrap. I usually designate my scrapers to either drywall repair or scraping so they don't get dull. Nice ergonomic, comfortable handle that says "stiff" in case I forget. I'm always happy when tools have a hook to hang them in the workshop. Another good Husky product.
