Do these pipe sections have flared ends for connecting one to another? Or are couplings required?

Asked by Vinny June 16, 2020

Answers

Yes. Glue is not required. This is DRAIN PIPE. Used underground where seepage is not a concern. Elbows, wyes, etc. SHOULD be glued with normal PVC pipe cement to prevent movement of joint during assembly and burial. After that, leaks don't matter as it will still carry fluids (water) to it's final 'daylight' or other distribution system. If you plan to use THIS pipe for other purposes that require pressure or vacuum, the bell end should be removed and glue applied to whatever union you are using. All fitting for THIS pipe are 'specifically for IT ONLY and other fittings for schedule 40 PVC pipe WILL NOT FIT!

Answer

The O.D. of THIS pipe is different than the O.D. of Schedule 40 pipe. I don't know if THIS pipe's manufacturer makes a cap for it, so, likely answer is NO.

This is a smooth PVC pipe, mainly intended for drainage. It is very easy to connect one to another with no extra fittings, since it has a bell end on one side.
