The MOD 8933D serger is the perfect companion for the developing fashion enthusiast. This wonderful modern serger gives you the necessary features in a compact machine to make beginner denim, knit and crafting projects. This MOD serger ensures that your projects are conquered with power, precision and confidence. The three- and four-thread stitch options allow you to choose the right setting for your fabric and project. Elegantly finish your garments with the quick change rolled hem. The quick change rolled hem ensures that the machine folds a piece of fabric neatly underneath and stitches it. With the flick of a switch you are set-up for rolled hem stitching, without the need to change the needle plate, foot or tension setting. The differential feed eliminates stretching and puckering on all fabric types.
  • 3 and 4 thread stitch options: the 3 and 4 thread stitch options allow you to choose the right setting for your fabric and project the built-in elasticity within the overlock stitches help garments fit naturally and comfortably
  • Retractable upper knife: the easily retractable upper knife allows you to serge your without cutting your fabrics the easily retractable upper knife makes threading safer and easier
  • Differential feed: the differential feed eliminates stretching and puckering on all fabric types turn the dial up if you are using fabric that stretches or puckers turn the dial down to keep your fabric firm as it moves underneath the needle to prevent any unwanted puckers
  • Wide open threading: the left side of the serger opens for easy viewing while threading the lower looper pretension setting slider allows for easy threading in seconds

Q:Please explain lay in threading?

A:  Phyllie, that is a great question regarding serger threading, there are 2 main types. Lay in or dial. Lay-in threading is much like that of a sewing machine, you simply lay the thread into the tension discs on a predetermined thread path to properly thread the machine. With a dial threading serger, it requires you to wrap or wind the threads around each dial. While both will produce excellent serged seams and wonderful results, some people prefer lay-in over the dial style.     A:  The Janome MOD-8933D is a Serger. While it is more than capable of serging the raw edges of the fabric on T-shirts, and baseball cap material, it is, however, unable to perform any embroidery functions. For more information on this model please visit the Janome website.

        A:  The Mod-8933D serger has the capability of serging on all types of fabrics. It is especially useful for serging knit fabrics, such as Jersey and T-shirt. The Differential Feed system allows the sewest to adjust the amount of fabric being fed through the feed dogs, preventing fabric from stretch or gathering. With 3-thread or 4-thread capabilities, this serger will give excellent results when serging on knits.

            I absolutely love this machine. Was on the fence about a serger and this has sealed the deal. I actually bought A brother surgery previously and had to return it. Out of the box it was broken and the quality of it was absolutely not up to standard. This machine feels so much sturdier and is also much quieter. Definitely buy it if you are on the fence!!

            It is very beginner user friendly. Great for constructing knit garments! The amount of starter thread was enough for me to make almost 3 garments (pants, skirt, and wrap top) before needing to buy cones for the 2 right cones, and I still have plenty for the left 2 cones.

            Shipped quickly and works great. Bought it to make bathing suits and it was easy to set up. Comes pre-threaded but I’ve threaded it myself as well. It takes a few minutes but isn’t difficult to do. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and really happy with it so far.

            I just got it so I been just trying it but so far the best machine I have I am regular for sewing I have few machine's ,, quilting embroidery and regular sewing machine,,for me this one is first serger sewing machine and I absolutely love it I made face masks pillow cases table placemats One of the threads finish without me noticing it so I needed to trade it all by myself and I can say I did with no problem even without looking at instructions which I thought it will be super hard but it wasn't at all Great serger sewing machine
