A: Even though the heating element will get food residue on it, it should burn off during cooking. If there is still something left on the element, you can either leave the unit on a few more minutes with no food cooking or wait until the element cools completely and use a damp cloth. Do not submerge element in water and don't get the connectors wets.
A: I take it apart and place it in a sink with warm water and Dawn dishwasher detergent - it's easy to clean using a soft to medium sponge to apply a soft scrub. I never spent more than 5-10 minutes cleaning the device.
A: No it does not come with a griddle plate. You might have to purchase separately.
A: No there is not.
A: No, it does not come with a griddle plate.
A: I followed the instructions, I don't use it over 400oF, and the results are always very good.
A: The temperature of each food depends of the size, the thickness of the food and how you personally like your food to be cooked You do not have to sear them at first if you choose not to. If you would like to know the approximate timing and temp. Please call kalorik Customer Service at 888-521-8326.
A: I've found that pork chops and cheeseburgers are perfect for this grill. Chicken cutlets are ok, but don't cook as well - I'm not sure why (I guess it's because they take a lot longer to cook through). As for the setup: pre-heat the grill at the high temperature of 460 degrees - about 10 minutes so that you'll get a nice sear on the meat. Add the burgers or chops after ten minutes and cook for about 6 minutes; then turn for another 4 minutes for medium rare on the burgers - leave for another 6-munutes for pork chops. Don't change the temperature - leave it at the high setting throughout - the burgers and chops will cook very nicely and retain all of the juices (place the cheese on the burgers for the last 2 minutes or so). It's best to use chops and burgers that are fairly thick - for example, Wahlburgers are an excellent choice - a good example of the thickness you'd want to use. And, don't count on the grill to be smokeless - so, it's best to have a well-ventilated area away from fire or smoke detectors (I use the grill outside). Good Luck! ENJOY!
A: California has VERY high standards for everything from emissions to cancer warnings. Almost anything I purchase has a California warning label on it and, as alerts, they certainly apply to everyone regardless of where they live. I personally am very happy with this grill but we each make our own decisions.
A: California law requires the warning. I do not live in California, but I consider any warning.
A: Yes it does apply to residents in other states.
