Q:I have installed two of these spouts, both with problems. Each time this is installed, significant leaking from the spout occurs. There is a design flaw with this spout. We contacted Kohler who said no problems. Reviews indicate otherwise.

    A:  Completely agree. We have had 3 now installed by a professional and it leaked every single time. Koehler is gaslighting their customers with their response. Awful.

              A:  No, it does not close off water completely, which is my expectation. Shopping for substitute faucet as this one is not acceptable. Disappointed in a Kohler product for the first time.

                Looks great, but non functional
                I had a plumber install this product (threaded connection) as part of the Alteo tub/shower trim kit. The spout leaked while the diverter is engaged. I swapped the spout to slip fit connection and the result was the same. Significant water leaks out of the spout resulting in poor showerhead pressure and wasted water. I received a warranty replacement from Kohler today and the tub spout does the exact same thing. You can adjust the diverter seal by pushing up on the diverter from underneath slowly to find a spot it leaks the least. It also makes noises while the diverter is engaged. Lastly when the water valve is turned off the diverter does not fall back to open position automatically. When you push it back down it feels like it's stuck in place. Very disappointed in this product.

                Hello Bathremodel2022, my name is Kassi with Kohler Co. I am sorry to hear that your tub spout still leaks when trying to switch to the showerhead. For this tub spout, the piping from the wall should stick out at 5". The piping in the wall from the valve(handle) to the tub spout should also be copper. PVC can not be used to go to the tub spout however, it can be used to go to the showerhead. Could you please email our Customer Service team at KohlerCustServ@Kohler.com?                   Diverter is ineffective
                  This product does not divert the water to the shower 100%. At most, it only diverts about 75% and has done so since it was installed. After replacing the pressure valve yesterday, I was about to purchase a new one thinking I just had a lemon, but based on all of the other reviews, they all do the same thing. Very disappointing that my only options are now to replace the entire shower set with a different brand that works correctly, or to have a mis-matched set.

Normal operation for a diverter tub spout will allow about 0.1 gallons to flow from the spout when the diverter is activated.                     Poorly designed and executed spout
                    Unfortunately, this is a poorly designed and executed spout, clunky and malfunctioning even after replacing it for a new one after Kohler concluded the one we got was malfunctioning and spending a little fortune in plumbers, of which Kohler covered only a minimal portion. Stay away from this product.

                    The spout was a bit tricky to install as the...
                    The spout was a bit tricky to install as the insert can come out and is very difficult to put back in place. I found that using 2 small pieces of tape to hold the 2 pieces together in a circle allows you to drop it in place. I also found that it helps to have the pipe that the spout is connected to braced so when you push on the spout the pipe does not push into the wall. The spout works fine.

                    Diverter doesn't work
                    This is the second alteo bath spout we've had. The first was replaced after moving into a new house because it diverted only about 80% of the water when switching to the shower head. Replaced with brand new spout and it off the box only diverts about 75 to 80%of the water. Spend your money on a more consistent product.
