A fire extinguisher is a fire extinguisher. I bought this one to replace the one in my boat which has expired. The only issue I had with this one is the date of manufacture. Boating regulations require the extinguisher to be replaced 10 years after year of manufacture, which is stamped on the bottom, regardless of condition. When I received this one, the date of manufacture is 2020, which means I will only get 8 years of service instead of 10. Not a real big issue but still a little disheartening.

Well, by national fire extinguisher code, non-marine, the extinguisher is good for 12 years from the date on the bottom of the extinguisher after which it should be replaced. So you can take it home for another 2 years after that.

The Kidde 5-B:C Automotive Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher is the perfect size for my garage just in case of a fire. I am always careful but things do happen when you least expect it. rated for liquid, gas, and energized electrical fires, has a 6 ft. discharge range and 8 - 12 second discharge time, Can keep in the garage car/truck or boat. for small fires .I hope i never have to use this or any other fire extinguisher in my home ,but i am ready if i do need to.
