Questions & Answers

How many boards per tube?

How many boards per tube?
Asked by: Connectionstools
The number of boards per tube depends upon what size tube you are going to purchase. On the installation guide found on this page it says that a 10 oz tube will cover about 30 linear feet and a 28 oz tube will cover about 85 linear feet. If you figure that you are going to be working with a full size 4' X 8' sheet of plywood / panel and that your joists are set at 24" on center then you would need about 20 Linear feet of adhesive per sheet of plywood / panel. That means that you should get about 1.5 sheets worth of coverage out of a 10 oz tube or 4.25 sheets of coverage out of a 28 oz tube.

Can this be used to secure ceramic tile.

Can this be used to secure ceramic tile.
Asked by: robi
It could be used to attach Tile to a wall or floor but there are better options for attaching tile to a substrate instead of using Liquid Nails. Just about any adhesive caulking should work. Remember that you are attaching a solid tile to substrate and if you don't use a product that allows the tile or substrate to expand and contract freely (like flexible caulking) you may find the tile has cracked after only a few days and liquid nails doesn't flex once it is cured.

Is this the right thing to use to glue down replacement boards in a floating floor?

I need to replace 5 water damaged boards in an engineered wood, floating floor. The subfloor is plywood and the replacement boards each have a sheet of foam underlayment attached.
Asked by: Nate
Definitely not! A floating floor needs to remain floating and free to move across the subfloor with expansion and contraction. If you glue down the floor then you are limiting its designed movement and therefore you will end up with a lot of unwanted separation.

I need an adhesive to bond 3/4" thk. oak hardwood strip flooring to a plywood subfloor. I have some squeaks that I plan to fix from the top surface by drilling some small 1/16" holes and using syringes to infuse adhesive into the gaps between the bottom of the flooring and the top of the plywood. Which product would give me the best bond.
Asked by: unclebob
I would use the adhesive especially if it is a high traffic area
