18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 6-1/2 in. Compact Dual-Bevel Compound Miter Saw with Laser (Tool Only)

Spendy (at least for the ~$500 at the time of this review), but excellent little saw. Small cut capacity and hard to say if this one stays on the market because of it, as most people will only want one miter saw and will be understandably hesitant to pass up the flexibility of being able to cut larger than this. For my purposes, I specifically needed a second, smaller saw for mitering small-ish pieces of plastic, which can be a bit of a nervous task on my 12” Makita slider (which is also excellent, btw). I did a few test cuts using the stock blade on wood just to confirm the obvious before changing it out for a blade better suited to my specific needs. Wonderfully smooth through wood. Plastics are always a bit more tempermental in part because finding an appropriate blade is a bit of a hassle, but the smaller size makes mitering with this unit much easier to feather through cuts and the smaller, lighter blade feels quite a bit safer. Angles were extremely accurate straight out of the box, all detents are within fractions of a tenth of a degree on my unit...immensely better than the miters I’ve gotten from my previous “default“ prosumer company, which had to be recalibrated constantly for anything better than rough cuts and even then weren’t ever accurate for more than the one angle at a time. Detenting is atypical in that the mechanism is all internal. Very nifty, I think I like the feel of it better than how most miters work, but a small hinderance is it can’t be toggled off. Perhaps the perfect second miter saw, much like compact drills, the one you end up using most of the time because it’s just so easy to set up and use anywhere, anytime.

Really nice little saw! Suits my needs perfectly in my shop. Nice having this for light trim work and not having to fire up the big 12" or cart it to a job. Won't replace a 10" or 12" but great in it's own space.

My new favorite tool. Excellent quality I had to look really hard to find one thing that bothers me. The knob to hold miter position should have a spring on it because it vibrates down while using the saw. This is a minor complaint. I absolutely love this saw.
