Q:Why only 3 year warranty Even Ryobi does that. My other Milwaukee tools M12 & M18 have 5 year warranties. The Ryobi version is 1/3 the price of this one right now. I love my Milwaukee hand tools and power tools, but this doesn't inspire confidence.

        Great little planer
Very nice tool. It definitely takes practice to use as first few times i was leaving a mark by not continually hold down pass the end of piece wood I was shaving off, but after practice came out smooth. has nice features built in such as spring out stand to protect blade. A spare blade holder with 2 reversable blades included. Extremely controllable depth gauge from zero to 5/64th with 22 steps in between. Comfortable handle and weight.

Well made and easy to use
In review of a: Milwaukee M12 fuel 12 V lithium-ion brushless, cordless 3/8 inch by 13 inch band file. When I got this I wasn't sure how much to expect I thought it would come in handy around the house for sharpening tools and heavy knives. I was quite impressed I sharpened a knife on my multi tool that was in tough shape with a 120 grit belt and I was surprised how fast and smooth it cut, then I switched to a 80 grit belt and sharpen my axe removing the excess material without a problem. The setup and belt changes are very easy loosen one hand nut the while pushing on end of file bar push in locking pin slip on belt release the locking pin swing cover shut and tighten hand nut. This is a well-thought-out design that works great. But that's what we come expect from Milwaukee tools.

        Milwaukee M12 FUEL 12V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 3/8 in. x 13 in. Bandfile (Tool-Only)
This little bandfile is a huge improvement over the corded one I’ve used for many years. Being battery powered is nice and convenient but I like that it is smaller and can get into tighter spots. I use it for woodworking and metalworking. It’s great for sanding in spots that I can hardly get my fingers into and I use it for cleaning up welds that, well, didn’t turn out the best. Its features include variable speed with two speed ranges and it can be used in reverse.

        Great Planer
We Have an older home and have several doors and windows out of plumb and square causing them to up and I was a bit tired of using a blocking plane. I have several other M12 products that use the same battery, so this was a good item as it is tool only. There are a lot of depths that you can set to between 0 and 5/ 64th of an inch. This is a very fine piece of equipment. I would recommend this planer. It has a nice handle for gripping when you have a lot to do. I would recommend this planer.

Perfect size for those tough to get places.
Beautiful little tool. This thing is so nice and versatile, I really like it. Its simple and easy to use for sanding and filing. Its small size lets you get it into places that are tight and the adjusting arm also makes it nice and easy to get just the right angle. The ability to use a small battery is also nice. So far I have only used it on metal projects and it has worked flawlessly. I also like the easy with which you can change out the sanding belt. Very easy to use and if you are looking for a bandfile then this little guy is the tool for you!!!

WELL-DESIGNED; EASY TO USE; WORKS WELL; HELPFUL INSTRUCTIONS; EASY DEPTH ADJUSTMENT; NO SHAVINGS BAG
The Milwaukee M1 2 FUEL 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 2 in. Planer (Tool-Only) is an outstanding planer tool and by far the best one that I have ever used. For some reason, I have never been able to master hand planing and the one cordless planer that I have used does not compare at all with this planer. The instructions are among the best for a Milwaukee tool. From the first pass on a 1 x 4 test piece, the planer worked perfectly. I was impressed with the smoothness of the resulting surface. It would not require sanding for most applications. Being able to adjust the blades in 1/256th increments is amazing and quite useful, especially for novices using a power planer. The 2 x 4 test piece had hammer dents in it, but after a few passes these were removed. My applying a chamfer worked OK but I will need more practice. For large depth cuts I will also need more practice on how to end the cut so that I don’t make a valley. For all of the testing that I did, the battery still showed four dots. The planer will also do rabbeting. One feature that I like that works super well is the kickstand. When you are not using the tool, it extends to protect the blades as shown in a photo. But then when you use the tool, the kickstand retracts automatically. I am really looking forward to using this tool when planing doors. What I haven’t tested is how well the planer works again the grain. One negative is that the planer does not come with a bag to collect the shavings. Although it comes with accessories to connect to a vacuum, my two vacuums, a PACKOUT and an M12, have strong, tight hoses which tend to pull on the planer and so do not work with it. So it would help to have a shavings bag. This planer is tool only. It would have been great if a battery had been included. I have many M12 tools but only three batteries which I then have to rotate. The one thing that I don’t like about M12 tools is the challenge of removing the battery. Sometimes it is not a major problem, sometimes it is. The planer is made in China.

Suffers same issue as m18 planer
I was originally hesitant to buy this planer as I read the reviews on its m18 cousin. I was hoping that perhaps the quality control on the blade alignment with regards to the back plate would be fixed, but it seems that is not the case. The blades are slightly below the plane of the back plate, meaning that it is almost impossible to avoid snipe regardless of the depth of cut. Without a way to adjust the back plate or blades this is a deal breaker for anything except rough lumber and framing.
