Look Elsewhere...Here is Why.
I bought this for my father who needed a new circular saw because his old one was so old and beyond repair. I checked and decided to pick this one up based on the reviews and the price point, but mostly the price point was the deciding factor. If you need it for a project or two it's fine. You won't break the bank. It'll do the job, but it's not worth it long term. First thing I'll mention is the power. This Ryobi circular saw is super powerful, but also super loud. It's so loud that even with ear protection, the noise was able to pierce through my 3M ear muffs. I could live with the noise but what really got me upset was the plastic guard. I don't understand why Ryobi would put a plastic guard on this circular saw. The blade is so tightly pressed on the plastic guard that over time, the blade will shatter the plastic guard, rendering it useless. In two light uses cutting eight pieces of 2x4 the circular saw plastic guard already shattered. Another thing that I didn't like about this Ryobi circular saw is that it jumps so much. The kickback is ridiculous. You have to hold on for dear life pressing down as hard as you can so you don't get so much kickback. The laser level is not accurate at all. While cutting 2x4 the laser guide went passed my mark. Everything about this circular saw is so off putting. Also I'd like to mention that the bolt holding the blade stripped while using the tool that the circular saw came with. So now i have to use pliers to remove the blade. I really wanted to like this circular saw because I like Ryobi products but I cannot in good faith recommend this circular saw. If you need a saw for the cheap then this circular saw is good for a couple of good uses but if you're looking for a long term circular saw that you will use for years to come I would not recommend this.

Metal shaft broke on first use
Cuts well, packaged nicely. Laser didnt line up so needed adjustment, but that is mot suprising. The reason this is one star is the metal shaft broke on the first use. Thankfully the shield deflected the spinning nut so I wasnt injured. Sales associate at the store was nice about returning it and said “seems like a lot of people have been having problems with these saws recently.” I bought a different brand which worked well and finished the job.

      Very powerful, great buy
The motor is very powerful, I've ripped through a ton of 2x4's, 2x6's, and plywood. I used it a bit on some hardwoods, you'll see in the pictures I picked up a 40tooth diablo blade, it's a nice upgrade from the included blade to create less tear out. This comes with a bag, edge guide, and tool. Pretty easy to change the blade, I have not had any difficulty doing so. The power cord is very long which is real nice. The shoe (metal part that touches the work piece) leaves a ton of black marks which is annoying, but you can sand them off. The Motor is very large and wide, if you are making deep cuts, it will hit clamps. I've found this to be difficult many times, It would be great if they designed it so the motor had a little more clearance.

        Ideal for the occassional handyman...
I owned a Skill circular saw for years. No complaints. I just wore it out. I wanted to buy a Rigid circular saw, but it was a little heavier than the Ryobi. I have other Ryobi power tools, and they serve me well. I do like the laser guide a lot. Really a lot. All I have cut is pine boards so far, but my cuts have been straight and smooth. A sharp blade makes the cutting easier, but this Ryobi is very powerful and ideal for an occasional handyman like me.

Did some shelves and it made some great cuts. Very happy with them especially for a small project.

          Terrible, don't buy...
The main body is made of resin, not metal. It is simply rack of rigidity. It won't cut the wood 90 degree perpendicular, but some angle you do not to make.
