Will this fit my ecosense ecoh200dvlp water heater I bought at Home Depot? Thanks.

Asked by: KeckoJones
Check the size of the water supply connections on your eco sense ecoh200dvp water heater. These service valves require 3/4" connections. If your water heater does not have 3/4" connectors, you can buy adapters to fit the service valves to the water heater.

Do you need the pop-off safety valve with an electric tankless? (The master plumber at the local Home Depot says no.)
Asked by: Tman
Thanks for all the responses! In reading through various things, talking to pros and a couple manufacturers, it seems that sometimes a pressure only (not temperature) safety valve may be required by local codes, but most manufacturers do not require them on tankless units (and as stated by the Rheem rep who responded on here).

I think it would be better to have the two valves as mirror images of each other (one for left side, the other for the right side). That would make more sense to get the plumbing to work without so many extra elbows (with both incoming and outgoing pipes coming from the top in my case). I wanted to install a new electric tankless to replace a 40 gallon conventional gas-fired tank. With the above, the only thing different is the color of the valve handle. Because of their configuration, they just wouldn't work for me. I had to return the valves for a refund, and instead used conventional ball valves. Also, the side drainage valve with cap is not necessary, since you don't have to drain a tankless (at least very much), and the RTEX-13 supplies compression fittings at its connection points, so you can drain it that way if necessary (although slightly messier - not very much water in my case since the pipes were from above and vertical, and because I installed the conventional valves for isolation).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serves a Triple Purpose I added Rheem Brass Service Valves when DIY installing our Rheem Tankless Electric. The Service Valves are well built and made with quality brass. The package includes the code-required relief valve. This add-on was well worth the added cost and serves a triple purpose. 1) Regular flushing is a must for longevity and reliability. 2) Code usually requires hot and cold shutoff valves for water heaters. This unit has quality ball valves on the hot and cold side. 3) this unit has union joints that will make swapping out the water heater in the future a breeze. I hope the WH lasts a long time. But, let’s face it, like any high-power appliance, WH’s eventually wear out.

Easy to assemble, I have had there valves installed for about a month with no issues. The valves made it easy to connect my tankless hot water heater. I like having the hose connections and shutoff to them. My water heater is in a un-insulated shop. When the weather starts dipping to the freezing mark, the valves will make it easier to drain the system.
