I had it professionally installed and it wouldn't connect to my account. It stated it was still connected to another account. I called Ring support and they couldn't help. After a 2 1/2 hour call, told to take it back to Home Depot. I am out 2 electrician visits and 2 trips to Home Depot.

I have 2 of these cameras, 1 has a common problem reported by many users and which now I’m experiencing. The IR filter is sticking, will not retract during daytime. No permanent fix other than to replace the camera. Ring is aware but poor at resolving.

This Ring Surveillance Camera with Motion Activated Floodlights (Refurb) is awesome. The installation was really easy. I did need much longer screws to mount it, tho. It works beautifully; exactly as it is supposed to. It's very attractive and people do recognize it as a Ring Camera. The picture is so clear and covers quite a large area. Even at night, especially when it switches to color, it's pretty amazing. The app for the phone is really nice and you can download an app for your computer, which is really better because you can view a larger picture. The Ring app for computer is not the same as your Ring Account page. You need to download the app to your computer to view anything on it. It came packaged very well. The item itself is very sturdy. I am very happy and do highly recommend!

I really like having these set up and I feel so much safer. I finally caught my Black Bear and her cub several times in the yard now. My fence has been knocked down three times. But, come to find out they come in the front yard too and as early as 10PM.

Easy to install and a great addition for protection

The only issue I have with it is the wifi antenna is not strong enough. I put one of the small out door cameras right next to it to test. It had strong connection to the wifi. However the spotlight cam could not connect. I then increased the wifi strength it seems to be connecting fine. It has good picture, and motion detection, and features. Works well now. Just make sure extend your wifi.

Straight forward install. We did have to move our Ring Chime Pro closer for strong enough Wifi for our above garage door location. Love the flood lights when we drive up to the house, and when walking past garage. Quick alerts and viewing on our Echo Show 8, makes this product just what we were wanting to enhance our home security.

I originally bought 1 then at having four a month went back and bought 2 more then 4 moe for friends that wanted them. Great picture. 2 way communication is fun also i talk to my wife when it notifies me she is outside leaving. Lol. And the wide angle view is amazing.

I will start off by stating the two issues that keep this from getting a 5-star review. ***THE RING FLOODLIGHT CAM IS ONLY DESIGNED FOR VERTICAL MOUNTING SOLUTIONS. OUT OF THE BOX, IT WILL NOT MOUNT HORIZONTALLY UNDER THE EAVES OF YOUR HOUSE.*** I typed this in all caps, because I feel like this information is under-emphasized pretty much anywhere these things are listed for sale. I don't think having a photo of it mounted vertically in the listing is adequate to emphasize that vertical mounting is the ONLY option. And I feel like there are enough people who are going to be buying these as a direct replacement for older motion lights that are already mounted under the eaves of their house. My solution, while not optimal, was to modify the plastic collar on the camera to give it better range of motion to be mounted under the eaves. There is a video on YouTube explaining how to do this using a dremel tool. I was fortunate enough that I had one location requiring vertical installation and one requiring horizontal. I figure if I ever have an issue with the one I modified, I can swap over the un-modified collar from the other before sending it in for warranty. The other issue is related to the app. If the devices lose power for any reason, the app defaults the push notifications back to "off". You would think that preference would be stored in-app rather than in the camera, but that does not seem to be the case. So if you lose power while you're at work or on vacation, you could go hours or days without getting push notifications, unless you happen to notice that it defaulted back to off. Definitely not an ideal situation. I have submitted this to Ring as a bug. On to the rest of the review. PROS: - The product feels sturdy and of quality build. - Installation is a breeze. The hook they give you to suspend the fixture while completing the wiring is one of the most useful out-of-the-box tools I've ever used, and it is going into my toolbox for future use. - Setup with the app is also a breeze. Just make sure you keep track of which device came out of which box (if you are installing multiple), because you scan the box to begin setup and scanning the wrong box for a particular device will complicate setup slightly. - The app interface is with the cameras is great. Miles beyond the Foscam app on an older camera we have. - I really like the ability to share videos with your neighborhood (It's similar to "Nextdoor" but only for sharing videos). And the weekly crime report is also nice, because so far it has reassured us that we have picked a low crime activity neighborhood. - The motion detection is very accurate and alerts are extremely prompt, usually coming in within 5 seconds of detecting motion. I still need to play around with the sensitivity, as the majority of our alerts so far have come from cats, opossums, and raccoons walking across our back patio in the middle of the night. The positioning of our front camera is such that it will alert me when someone pulls in the driveway. This gives me plenty of time to open the app, connect to the camera, and watch them before they even get to the front door. So I would be able to talk to them over the intercom or initiate the siren to scare a porch pirate off. - The floodlights are smaller but also brighter than the old Costco ones I replaced. I was also pleasantly surprised that they are a warm white rather than the cool blue-ish color of a lot of modern floodlights. CONS: - The aforementioned mounting and motion alert issues is the biggest cons. - We kept having an issue where we would get a legitimate alert, and then about a minute later we would get a second alert. The second alert always corresponded to the floodlights turning off and going back to night vision. I think I have isolated the problem here. The camera is mounted in a way that a significant amount of the side of the house is in view. I think what was happening is the floodlight was reflecting off of our light colored siding in a way that the motion sensors detected the change from lights on to lights off as motion. I changed the motion zone to only come up to the edge of the house, but not detect on the side of the house, and the double alerts have stopped. - The night vision is OK. If you have any light colored surfaces in the foreground (like our house siding or a light colored sidewalk), they will reflect the most infrared light and the camera will expose for that. Which means the darker/less reflective parts of your yard are underexposed. I'm thinking of buying a separate IR illuminator with a diffuser to light up the yard better when the camera is in night vision mode. - The two-way speaker is good but not great. The audio often stutters regardless of which end you are communicating from. Part of this, I'm sure, is that my current internet speed is "up to" 16mbps. And I would much prefer the video quality be prioritized over audio. But the speaker on the floodlight itself is also just not super clear, even when the audio isn't stuttering.
