Q:Can I spray this over rust spots or do I have to remove the rust first.

    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  It's always a good idea to remove the rust by doing a light sanding with a 180/220 grit sandpaper, prior to use of the Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy Spray Paint. This will help ensure the rust doesn't return. We hope this helps! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

      Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help! Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy Spray Paint must be applied in a space with proper ventilation and air circulation, as this is an aerosol product. Not only will this prevent solvents and odors from lingering, but it will also ensure proper drying. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Got rid of my pink sink
this product requires a lot of prep the off spray is ridiculous and everything needs to be covered otherwise it will have a slightly whitish tint to it. I made the mistake of not covering a mirror that was far away from the counter and I had to rub it down with mineral spirits to get the white haze off. must wear an intense respirator not just a mask, eye protection. follow the directions and then after finishing your coats not to use the surface for two weeks or longer. product takes a very long time to cure. nozzle can get clogged easily and ruin your spray and it won’t be smooth. My other bathroom that I did (pink sink) allowed a long time to cure has been holding up well for a few months and it is our main bathroom.

I used this paint to recoat the rusty top of my refrigerator. After a lot of sanding I removed most of the rust from the top of my refer. It then took 4 coats of this spray paint to get good coverage. On one small spot that still had some leftover rust the paint bubbled up so I will need to redo that section. It will likely have just enough paint to do this. To do the entire refer it would need about 4 cans. The odor from this paint gave me a belly ache for about three days, and that is with my windows open and a good breeze. That's why I gave only 4 stars. If you can possibly do the painting and drying outside for three or four days it would be well worth it. Overall the finish looks very good, I'm hoping that it will not rust up again very soon.

              Horrible color match
What a nightmare. The top of the spray can matched just fine with the bathtub i needed to paint. However the color turned out to be gray, not white.

              Response from Rust-OleumSupportOct 29, 2021
That's not what we expect to hear! To ensure the best color with Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Spray Paint, we recommend applying several light coats and shaking the can often during your application. Please keep in mind, this product is not intended for use in sinks or bathtubs. The constant immersion in water will cause this coating to blister and peel. Instead, we recommend Rust-Oleum Specialty Tub and Tile Refinishing Kit.

                Awesome, wear a good mask
This worked great, painted a mustard yellow freezer from the 70's and it looks brand new. Caution: lots of overspray and fumes. Wear an N95 mask and goggles and be sure to have plastic sheeting surrounding it. If you know how to spray paint it will come out great. Be sure to shake well before and during application.
