AnswerHello, The Porter Farmhouse sink is 99.99 % pure commercial copper with no coating, because at Sinkology we believe that the beauty of copper is his natural patina. However, what you are experiencing is not dirt, but the patina which is the natural layer that gives the sink his rich brown color. it is the same way a new penny darken over time. We recommend to wash it with warm or cold soapy water with a soft cloth or sponge not brush, because it will remove the patina and you might see some shiny copper. Love this sink, it is beautiful and the star of my new kitchen! What I didn’t realize though is that a 36” sink is huge! If you’re looking for a large sink at a reasonable price this is it.
