Product Details

A powerful dust collector from Shop Fox. This unit features an extra heavy-duty 12 in. steel impeller and a 1-1/2 HP motor that runs on 110-Volt. For wood dust only. Models manufactured after June 2015 come with a 2.5 mic felt upper filtration and a plastic (PE) lower collection bag. The upper 2.5 mic bag (D4572) and lower plastic bags (D4573 5-pack) can be purchased separately for any collectors that do not include them.

Q:Can the filter bag be washed, or does need to be replaced when dirty?

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. The filter bags are washable but do not use detergent. Allow them to fully air dry before reuse, and over time, you may need to consider replacing them.

      A:  Thank you for your inquiry. The H5783 Extra Canister is compatible with the W1685 dust collector. The filter's measurements are 19-5/8" in diameter and 23-5/8" in length, with a filtration rating of 1-micron.

          A:  I would think that you'd want to put a good cyclone dust separator in front of the Shop Fox to prevent, as much as possible, running the dust through the machine. I can only imagine that concrete dust is super abrasive and would be tough on the dust collector. Also, beware that the very fine, 5 micron I think, stuff still gets put into the air. In my shop, when using this collector for woodworking, I get several days of fine particulate still settling out of the air, if I have the collector inside the shop.

            Impeller Came off Shaft in 20 minutes
            Anyone can have a manufacturing defect and technical support alluded to the problem of the bolt not being properly tightened, but technical support was pretty bad

              Need 3 Hands
              It's a really good dust collector for a small wood shop like I have. I only have one substantial complaint. Changing out the dust collector bag can't be done without either having someone to hold it in place while it's being secured with the strap or like I did, use painters tape to secure it. It's quite annoying. Outside of that, it's a powerful dust collecting system that can be used on all of my carpentry saws and planner.

              I definitely like the Shop Fox. It is a little noisy and the lower bag is challenging for one person to attach. It has great suction power and captures a lot of dust right off my sander without a direct attachment. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase.

              Seems to work as advertised. Some assembly required, but fairly easy. The lower bag clasp could use a bit of re-design to make it easier to install with just two hands. After the first six or so uses the wheel bolts became lose due to motor vibration. Would it be too much to expect a few lock washers for the price? The rods that hold the upper and lower bags are a bit flimsy, will eventually mount this to the wall instead of the cart. Average value for the cost IMHO, nothing to rave about. This is my first unit, and perhaps my expectations are too high, but it fit into my budget.

              Good Product; Difficult Assembly
              The product seems to work well but it was overly difficult to assemble. I had to drill out each of the holes for the wheels and the hardware included was either not at all adequate for this machine or intended for something else. I had to buy virtually all of the nuts and bolts for this machine and those provided were not adequate for the assembly.
