I own both. Both are made at the same Simpson factory on the the same assembly line. Simpson is licensed to make the Dewalt model. There are small differences; The Dewalt has a steel reinforced hose, a taller front roll bar, and a very nice two grip wand similar to a "tommy gun". Other than that, they are identical. Why does the Dewalt cost more? Marketing.

You can reduce the pressure and/or use the white 40 degree tip. I’m using this machine in an auto detailing business, but wanted enough power for an occasional house or driveway pressure washing job.

Should I have the water pressure in my home checked before I purchase this power washer?

You don’t need pressure, but you need at least 2.5 gallons per minute of volume. You can check volume by turning on your spigot that you have your hose attached to. You should fill a 1 gallon milk jug in 25 seconds or less.

No it does not. It has a manual throttle that you can set to idle. It does have a relief valve that opens when trigger not pulled to prevent the pump from overheating

High Pressure Hose Blew Off
Wow...I was looking forward to receiving my Simpson PowerShot PS3228-S today. I did my homework and read the reviews. I chose the Honda GX200. I bought and waited. It showed up on my side door today with a damaged box with the water pump sticking out of the hole in the box. I took phone pics and started the quick installation process...got to the point where I started the engine. First tug the Honda was running...but ten seconds later, the high pressure hose with the wand blew off leaving pieces of brass and broken plastic both on the hose connector and water pump. Called Simpson and asked for help...bottom line was I need to send it to a service center for repairs. NOT!?! I called Home Depot, very excellent customer care and service, no problem sir, we will replace it, we will have it picked up and boxed for you, and you can order another once we process this one. That's the only bummer is I have to wait 5 days before ordering another. Another Simpson PowerShot? We shall see...

So Far, So Good
This item was purchased to clean mostly concrete surfaces around a business complex. I have only had it a few days but have already put about 6 hours of operation on it. So far, very pleased with the pressure washer. The two photographs are of a concrete area in front of a dumpster cage which was almost black with grime. As you can see, it did a good job of cleaning the concrete. I will say that, as many others have mentioned, the Honda GX200 seems somewhat finicky to start. Most of my gas powered equipment from lawn mowers to generators are Honda and they usually start on one pull. Not this engine. I followed the enclosed "Supplemental Starting Instructions" that came with it. Still took a number of pulls and messing with the choke, throttle, etc. to fire up. Once warm though, it starts fine. It's early, but so far the thing works very well

My first pressure washer and I am glad I bought it. I recently retired and have more time to do work around the home. My sidewalk and driveway were long over due for cleaning. The last time I had it done it was a few hundred dollars and they did a great job but I figured if I did it myself that would pay for the machine with just a couple of uses. Very simple to set up with clear instructions, It started after about 3 pulls on the cord and I was happy with that as I had never used one before and was not quite sure how much throttle and choke to use but it was not a problem. I added a surface washer and it did a great job. I will post a picture of one spot with a before and after.

I couldn't be happier. I got this primarily to clean up after mowing or washing the cars. It does so much more. We were going to replace the pickets on our fence, but decided to try the pressure washer instead. We were amazed. Great machine.

Only used it a couple hours so far, only issue I have is it takes a little while for the pump to give consistent power - Pressure fades in and out. Need to let it warm up and the pump to catch up I guess??? Not sure

The Only Reason I'm not giving it a 5 Stars is because of a few small things that I think make it better for service. One, the location of the Engine Oil Drain Plug. No where in the instructions or manual did it list the bolt and thread pitch of the drain plug. I had to figure it out on my own, then was looking for an adapter to go from 10mm to 1/4 NPT to pipe the drain away from the frame to a location to collect the oil being drained for service, yet still being protect from any damage while using the unit. ended up ordering "on-line" a "Drainit" extension hose from Home Depot (Didn't like that it was not in stock in the store). Some of the other reasons; the unit did not come with a Engine "Hour Meter" which the service manual refers to Engine Hours Run" to determine when to check or service the Engine Oil, Spark Plug, Air Filter Element, etc. Also, the Pressure Wand is not secured to the side of the unit and falls out when moving the unit around to place in the location you want to use it at. I ended up making a custom bracket for the Pressure Wand, and ordered a aftermarket "Hour Meter" and installed it on the unit. I also made an bracket to secured a plastic bottle to hold cleaning solution to put the suction tube into it. I made a "Check Sheet" for operations and service and laminated to protect it and attached it to the unit. These are not Home Depot fault, but maybe someone could inform Simpson (FNA) about these small items that would put the unit over the top against the other manufactures. I am now very happy with the out come and look forward to using the Simpson Powershot Power Washer very soon. I submitted the photographs with the correct orientation however, they somehow did not load the same way. I have much more photographs but could not load all of them. I purchased the unit on Saturday, April 12, 2020 and spoke with Home Depot representative "Rich" in Texas and he was very helpful with answering my questions. At first I was looking at a DeWalt Power Washer however, Rich said the ones I was looking at were not available. He was able to provide additional brands and after he providing me with information, I selected the Simpson "Powershot" 3300 PSI, 2.5 Gallon Power Washer. I received the unit on April 20th and filled out the "On-Line" Registration on April 21st with Simpson. I have been ordering the Oil Drain Hose and Hour Meter and other items and have been taking my time to make sure I set the unit up with all the additions the way I want them. Its now May 6th and I Plain on adding the Engine Oil to the motor and fuel and firing it up and testing it out. Looking forward to using it very shortly.

Bought this post washer about a month ago. I started it up to make sure everything worked and it did. I purchased this power washer because it is commercial grade with a Honda motor and a commercial pump.

Set up is easy and the product works as it should. Pros: Power, easy start, small and compact, efficient design layout for use Cons: I wish the hose was longer and not as stiff. I wish the connection to the garden hose came out a little farther so you could turn both the connection and the garden hose. This thing is compact and you have to basically tilt it vertically to get it up stairs, which leaves you lifting up most of the 82lbs of weight. Overall very happy with my purchase.

I have used this pressure washer about 20 times so far. Pros: good pressure, well designed, very quiet, smooth running once it warms up. Starts easy; most times 1 pull does it. Hose is well made and doesn't hold a memory when uncoiled. Cons: AAA pump gets extremely hot after only a short time (10 min +) at 30 min the water will vaporize off the pump. I can't see how the pump can last long at those temps. While the hose is well made its way to short for washing a standard sized vehicle. At that price range a 30' hose would be expected. So far the pressure washer is performing as expected.
