I like the coating on the tape which will protect the numbers but it makes the tape slippery so it does not lock securely. If I move it after measuring an object it often slips to a different length. Also, the tape is in inches but the stamp that tells how much to add for the case is metric. I'm not sure I can recommend, I am going back to Home Depot to see what else is available in this price range.

I own several Stanley products, including multiple tape measures.  Among them are two 25', one 16', this 12' and a 3'.  When it comes to my favorite, it's a toss-up between the 16' and the 12' based on their size, weight, and convenience.  This is a great product that you can count on, even though this is a recent purchase it has already proven itself as an indispensable part of my toolbox.  I've used it to measure all sorts of things. It's affordably priced and durable--both the locking mechanism and belt clip perform reliably.  I have no regrets with this purchase and would highly recommend this product.  It stands up to abuse very well and is built to last a lifetime.

I knew that when I bought it. But, it easily fits into the pockets of my super-hero utility belt (tool belt) and the pockets of my coveralls. It can be easily retrieved without jamming in those pockets. I much prefer the extension capabilities of the Fat Max types, but they are very awkward to carry. I mean, where DO you carry the blasted things? I'm very big on efficiency of use. If I have to struggle to fish a tape measure out of a pocket or move around with a huge lump hanging from a pocket, belt or apron that can easily be knocked off, I'm not happy. But then, fighting to keep a tape from collapsing at only six feet is a pain too. There is no perfect tape measure.

In the 40 years of doing professional construction, I have tried all the other brands and even the other sizes of Stanleys. This one just fits the bill. It is affordable, not big and bulky, strong, markings are easy to read and the mylar coating on the blade it tough. With the other brands, the blade is flimsy, the markings are either too hard to read or there are so many markings on them that you cannot decipher what is what. This one is the plain vanilla and that is all you need 98% of the time for most construction projects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stanley PowerLock - Best Tape Measure I've used other competing brands of tape measure before however a friend referred me to Stanley PowerLock. It is the best tape measure that I've ever used. For me the difference is PowerLock feature which I used quite often each day. When I take a measurement, PowerLock ensures that my reference measurement is always there until I release the feature. That makes the Stanley PowerLock the best tape measure for me. I'm sure it will work for you also.

I own several Stanley products, including multiple tape measures.  This is hands down my favorite. I like it the best because of its size, weight, and convenience.  For most household tasks I don't need a bulky 25' roll. It's a great product that you can count on.  I have owned mine for nearly a decade during which time it has proven itself as an indispensable part of my toolbox.  It's affordably priced and well built--both the locking mechanism and belt clip are well built and perform reliably.  I have no regrets with this purchase and would highly recommend this product.  I mine all the time; at home, at friends, and outdoors.  It stands up to abuse very well, perform reliably, and are built to last a lifetime.

It is light weight and easy to clip on my belt and it stayed there until I was ready to un-clipp it. The only reason I had to purchase one is because my worker liked it and I needed to replace it other than that I had my other tape measure for over a year. My problem is I set them down and forget where I put them. I like Stanley built tools
