Works as advertised. For that theater taste I use coconut oil and flavacol salt. Makes my house smell like a theater concession stand. I also have a theater type popcorn popper but I bought this because it's easier to clean and I can just quickly make popcorn for just enough for a night.

I got a better price from Home Depot than what was offered from the manufacturer. It's nice that it has the metal gears. Important to clean after every use to prevent burnt-on grease. And it truly takes under 4 minutes for a batch.

I have a Theater II Popcorn Popper that's at least...
I have a Theater II Popcorn Popper that's at least 25 years old. Sadly it finally wore out and will not turn properly. I was shocked at the difference between the Whirley Popper, and another model I have already returned, and my old popper. They were both very thin and lightweight in comparison to my old popper. Not only that, the wooden handle and knob on the replacement poppers were also smaller and thinner. Even the wire that stirs the popcorn kernals, is shorter than my original. It seems the new manufacturers have cut back on all materials. I do like the fact that the plastic turning pieces are metal in the Whirley-Popper and I am glad someone still makes it. Hopefully this one will last as long as my original.
