Product Details

This 3/4 inch gas safety valve is designed to shut off the flow of natural gas to your home in the event of an earthquake. It was developed to save lives and reduce property destruction from earthquake related gas fires. This Little Firefighter(R) valve activates and automatically shuts off the gas supply when triggered by a 5.4 magnitude seismic event. It is approved for horizontal installation on 3/4 inch NPT pipe size for natural gas and propane lines. The maximum pressure is 5 psi and the operating temperature range is minus 20 degree F to 150 degree F. Each valve is UL Laboratory tested and approved and meets or exceeds the requirements of the City of Los Angeles.

Q:How to reset an earthquake gas shut off valve?

Answer This Question

A:  Reset the valve by turning the “reset” shaft with a screwdriver 1/8 turn (45°) in the direction indicated. The slot on the reset shaft should spring back to its original, vertical, position when the screwdriver is removed.

          The device did not work at today’s 5.1 earthquake
          My house installed this device 3 years ago. And today we had 5.1 magnitude earthquake. This device did not shutdown the gas pipeline. The house was shaking a lot. I jumped out of house. But this device is still on at green!

            No longer working just 18 months after installation. It was tripped and doesn't reset no matter how many times I turn the reset valve. Need to buy a new one and pay for a licensed plumber to come out now, probably looking at $250 to replace when all is said and done.

              Safety for the family
              Typical plumbing skills required for installation. Excellent build quality. Should come with brace required in box, since it is required to do a complete install.
