I rent this house so mounting an antenna on the roof is NOT an option, Can I mount this below the roof level on a railing for the deck? Or can it simply in the attic?

Does it come with mountain hardware?

Considering mounting one on the roof or on a brick the chimney. Does this come with the hardware needed for that?
Asked by: James
The antenna comes with a clamp and bracket attached to the antenna body. You need to buy a PVC pipe, aluminum or galvanized steel pipe depending of the Height of antenna, i.e. the length of the pipe. Longer the pipe, stronger the material.

My wife didn't like the look but I think it looks pretty cool. Note that it needs to be installed facing the general direction of the source signal. I cut two wood wedges to angle the install 15 degrees from my exterior wall and I am getting tons of channels very clear.

I purchased this antenna to mount on the roof but ran out of daylight by the time I got home. So out of curiosity set it up indoors by a window pointed to the downtown broadcast towers, and to my surprise it pulled in all the HD channels I wanted, so no trip to the roof anymore. The only problem was it was designed to be mounted on an antenna mast and leaning it against a house plant on a window box was not a good long-term solution. Fortunately I found a vertical paper towel holder with a weighted base that made quite a good stand for the antenna. It looks different but it works great. To be fair, both the antenna and HDTV are brand new so I can't say whether it's the antenna or the sensitivity of the TV tuner (or possibly a combination of both) that are causing the great reception but I can say that with older HDTV's and antennas certain channels were spotty at best but now everything comes in very well, but that having been said I'm happy that I rolled the dice on this antenna as I've had very good experience with other Winegard antennas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crystal clear picture from over 50 miles out I've tried a number of the "flat" HD antennas and have for the last year+ been using an old fashioned 30 year old antenna I had in my attic since we built the house. That worked well but always got pixelation during any kind of cloudy or rainy weather. Right now I'm sitting here watching the Super Bowl pregame shows in perfect HD and we are in the middle of the worst snow storm of the year. Perfect picture over 50 miles out and I have the antenna in my attic. The Freevision also picked up more channels than anything else I tried. I did take a little testing which way to point it but I'm shocked it works so well. I would note I also use a cheap RCA video amplifier to help push the signal through the coaxial. If you have several TV's hooked up you'll most likely need one too. They're about $20 and available at Home Depot as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Nice Design, Good Performance I bought this antenna primarily based on the favorable performance reviews, but I also wanted something that wasn't outlandishly large. This antenna met both requirements perfectly; very good performance, very compact size. The attached picture will provide scale and the reception and picture quality are better than expected. While I can't vouch for fringe service performance I would expect that this antenna would serve very well for most short to mid-range applications and do it without looking like a typical monstrosity. The antenna has nail holes in the body to use to attach it to the side of the house. I would suggest going the extra mile to drill pilot holes and use screws instead of nails for a more secure installation. All in all, the only way that installation could have been easier is if somebody else did it for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing little Antenna! We live 30 miles north of Baltimore, MD. Put this little guy on a pole up about 20 feet above the deck. Ran the channel finder and was amazed - 49 clear as a bell channels frim as far away as Washington DC. You cannot go wrong with this one!
