If you just got it for Christmas, I would take it to your local Home Depot and see if they will replace it. Good luck!

I agree! The one included is not very helpful. Google "Modern Home Air Fryer Manual" and there is a much better one online.

We use it mainly to cook food from Costco like spicy wings, beer battered fish , egg rolls, tacquitos etc. If you'd like to cook from scratch, you should buy a cook book for air fryers.

Great For Quick Meals This is an overall great little air fryer that does a wonderful job of cooking almost anything that you would normally fry or bake. We have tried baked potatoes, smoked pork chops, casseroles, air fried mushrooms, French fries and many other items. They have all turned out great and have much less fat than normal deep frying. Unlike deep frying where the oil surrounds the food you will need to turn most foods that are cooked in this unit. The unit stands about 13" tall and 11" wide, so it fits under upper kitchen cabinets easily or will store just as easy in kitchen lower cabinets. The Air Fryer has a multiple settings for most common foods from veggies to sea food or most items in-between. Even at 5000' where longer cooking times are normally longer this cooks almost everything in the time shown on the built in menu. The capacity of the inner basket is 3.2 liters or approx 3.4 quarts. This is a good size for cooking full meals for one or two people or side dishes for up to six. The maximum temperature that food can be cooked at is 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Overall this is a good unit for one or two people that does a very good job of cooking foods that would normally be cooked in a deep fryer.

We have never owned a deep fryer or any type of air fryer so this has been a serious learning curve. One of the biggest problems we had to face right off is how long and how high to cook things. Thankfully this machine will allow you to pop open the basket and check on your items to get a look and then push it right back in and since the temperature hits it's peak almost instantly, the timer and heat take off right back to where you had things set. It's a fryer that acts more like an oven and allows you to fry foods in a shorter period because there is no waiting period for it to heat up. Unlike a microwave it's slower to cook yet your food comes out crisp and not gummy and then scolding hot in one spot while still frozen in another. To put it the best way, for a smaller meal it's the best of both worlds and obviously running on 110v much cheaper than operating the stove. We haven't prepared many things because we aren't that type couple. Our schedules have each of us coming and going and I can see where we might want to use this to throw in some frozen veggie mixes, sliced spuds or some of those frozen items that you can't microwave yet come out terribly greasy because they have sat stewing in their own grease on a sheet in the oven for what seems forever especially when you're starving. This is just us. Other people could do a whole deal of meal prep and could see limitless possibilities. One thing I will recommend is that you rotate or mix the food because you will find it cooking slightly differently from top to bottom. As I said before it's no big deal because you pop it out, stir, slid it back in and everything resumes. Also this allows you to sprinkle in spices or faster cooking items and even checking if done to taste. I suppose if one wanted they could use spray oil for that person who has to have it, but that in itself defeats the purpose of grease free frying but will still be faster than frying in grease otherwise. Like mentioned, it's going to be a learning curve and it's programmable for seven of your favorite dishes. It also has a digital timer and temperature readout which of course can be manually set. As for cleanup simply remove the inner metal basket from the outer and wash each. Both are dishwasher safe and if there is no greasy buildup, just wipe out the outer container with a paper towel or dishrag.

Healthier life through air frying, but only for 1 or 2 people at a time. So my wife chose this item for me from one of the Home Depot Seeds Bonus campaigns this month for me to review and I was a little hesitant since I have years of experience frying foods in oil (both original and trans-fat free oil). But I figured I'd give this product a try and see how well it works. To my pleasant surprise, the food did actually cook properly (with adjustments to cooking times) and didn't have a wildly different taste as I first expected. The areas that this product did not meet my expectations though was with the manufacturing quality control since there was a significantly scratched switch that locks the fryer basin in the unit during cooking as well as the very small portions that can be cooked at one time.

This Modern home fast and fit air fryer is a great new small appliance to have and use. It serves as an alternative of deep frying. It is very easy to use. No preheating necessary. The control is digital and there are only two things to do. Just the temperature and the time. Easy and quick. I could not wait to try it. To use it that night, I used ingredients that were on hand. I had planned on making fish sticks and frozen french fries, until I saw the recipe book that came with it. It did not occur to me to use raw food. The menu changed quickly. Since I had leftover chicken, I made two side dishes. The two foods were green bean fries and french fries. The green bean fries were made with fresh beans that were coated with cornstarch, raw egg, and bread crumbs. They cooked for a total of eleven minutes, at 370 degrees, turning them over after seven minutes. Meanwhile cut up potatoes were soaking in brine water for thirty minutes. Then dried off and tossed with olive oil. They cooked at 350 degrees for a total of twenty four minutes, tossing them halfway through. The potatoes were very good. They tasted like steak fries without the grease. The beans I like better just steamed. Would not make them again. The thing that I did not like was having to make each item separately. I think its best to pick one food to use it for that meal, and cook the rest elsewhere. It reminded me of when all the food is leftover and different and has to be microwaved a plate at a time. The next morning I made the cheesy breakfast egg toast. That was very good. I noticed that recipe while making dinner. The good thing about this recipe is how it can be changed up with different breads, cheeses or other toppings. That is going to be my new favorite breakfast. I am planning to make the chicken and salmon recipes in the book. I will not bake whole potatoes or whole eggs in this fryer. The potatoes would take the same amount of time in a toaster oven. And boiling eggs on the stove. I think this fryer does well for fast cooking foods.
