A:  Ben, I would suggest you install a horizontal strip of wood to receive the two inch high slide. It is very very important that the two sides of the slides are EXACTLY parallel for the self closing function to work properly, and it would be difficult to properly align a series of studs to intersect each of the mounting holes individually on both sides of the drawer installation. A strip of wood will also allow you to select any or all the mounting positions to support the slides, regardless of their spacing. I would also suggest you purchase some extra mounting screws, as the number provided with the slides are the minimum required.

    A:  Yes, a full 28". The slides have to be perfectly parallel and square in the opening, and the width needs to be dead on as well. There is no way to adjust the slides themselves, everything must be in alignment or the body holding the slides will need to be shimmed to make it all work as it is supposed to.

            A:  They come packaged in pairs, and depending on length , under 5 pounds I would estimate. The weight may be in the description on their web site.
