A: no. you need higher grit than this. start with 600 and go up incrementally til you reach 2000. be sure to use a backing pad or "finger sander" and sand in one direction.

A: I believe you are suppose to use another method. If I were to sand down something like that I would look at a honing stone like you would use for a knife. They are designed to be used with metal unlike this item. That is what I used to make my hatchet blade sharp for cleaner cuts to make kindling out of larger pieces.

A: Yes you can use Emory cloth, start with a medium grit and work your way up to finer grit.
