A: Each bag contains 1 cubic feet so the easy answer is 10 but it depends on how you want to deploy. It would be enough for top dressing or for adding and mixing into the existing soil but for filling you will need to multiply the number of bags by the inches of depth you want to fill.

A: Confirm it has a strong smell when you empty the bag but it goes away rather quickly and it is worth it. For better results suggest you work it 2 or 3 inches into the existing soil.

A: I have used several thousand bags of this over time. There is no detectable smell whatsoever.

A: It does smell more than the Black Kow brand but I didn't have a problem with it. Moisture content seemed higher in this brand also and I had to break apart a few chunks to spread it around. Whereas the Black Kow brand seems more refined, had a finer consistency, and had no odor at all that I remember. I would go with that one unless cost is a factor and you need a lot of it.

A: If you read the ingredients you will understand what is in the mix. It is a simple agricultural product that I found to be kind of a plastic consistency coming out of the bag. Over the last five years, I have purchased close to 100 bags and found very little extraneous debris in any of the batches. By the way, this isn't a product being made in a pharmaceutical factory under lab conditions.

A: I agree totally, pieces of metal do not belong in compost. I will never buy this again, Home Depot should pull it. It's horrible.
