Q:how do I mount this on drywall /sheetrock without a stud directly behind it to secure it to the wall?

A: Thanks for reaching out Zeus! This product comes complete with needed installation hardware (including anchors & screws).
Determine mounting location:
Depending on the product being installed, use a cut line and trim the mounting template. Reference the dotted line at bottom of template.
Use the template to determine the desired mounting location on the wall.
Note: For double-mount accessories, it's recommended to install at least one mounting plate into a wood stud. Use a stud finder to locate stud.
Using painter's tape, tape one side of the template to the wall.
Use a level to ensure the "level line" in the center of the template is straight.
Tape the remainder of the template to the wall until flush on the wall and secure on all sides.
Begin installation:
Determine the appropriate drill bit for the wall surface:
Drywall: 5/16in drill bit
Wood Stud: 1/8in drill bit
Tile: 7/32in masonry drill bit
Keeping drill directly in line with template, drill two holes for each mounting plate at their predetermined location.
Remove template from wall.
Install wall anchors:
Use appropriate anchor type for wall surface:
Drywall: Use winged anchors. For each anchor:
Pinch ends of anchor together.
Insert anchor into drill hole and lightly tap with hammer until anchor is flush with wall.
To secure anchor, insert finish nail into anchor and lightly tap with hammer, about 1in deep.
Remove nail from anchor before installing mounting plate.
Wood Stud: Do not use anchors.
Tile: Use ribbed anchors. For each anchor:
Insert anchor into drill hole and lightly tap with hammer until anchor is flush with wall.
Install mounting plate:
With flat surface area of mounting plate flush to wall, align mounting plate holes with anchors.
Use drill and mounting screws to secure mounting plate to wall.
Attach base to wall:
From bottom of product base(s) use Allen wrench to loosen set screw.
With set screw hole facing down, attach base to top of mounting plate first and then attach to bottom of mounting plate.
To secure product base to wall, tighten set screw with Allen wrench until base is flush with wall.
