    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. The storm door is technically mounted in the interior jamb/opening. However, there is a requirement for the exterior trims to accommodate the installation of the hinge rail, latch rail and rain cap. Please visit the Home Depot store nearest to your place to check the display doors. - Arnie

Q:The handleset on my front door projects 2 15/16" from the front door. Will it hit the glass? Even if I get a new handleset at Home Depot, most of them project 3" from door. What is the minimal distance needed so my front door handle doesn't hit the glass?

      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. The depth of the exterior jamb should be a minimum of 2-1/2" inches. This is for proper handle set clearance between the storm door and entry door. Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. Storm and screen doors are not part of a Federal tax credit for certain energy-efficient improvements to existing homes. Storm and screen doors are not included in EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Windows Program as there is not a procedure or standard to rate storm doors at this time and not eligible for any energy efficiency tax credits for windows or doors. Please keep in mind that adding a storm door may help increase the entryway insulating capabilities and provide an added barrier to the elements. -Marki
