A:  You don't necessarily need to , But, I cemented mine in. Makes it much more secure.

A:  I cemented ours in and am very glad that I did with the winds we get here. I used quickcrete in a 12” diameter form. The concrete is about 16-18” deep.

by|Nov 25, 2020

A:  Yes, the sleeve needs to be cemented in. QuickCrete works great for this. The pole goes in the sleeve.

by|Nov 25, 2020

A:  Yes, you will need to fill the hole with some form of cement.

A:  Go to the Annin website and view the various videos that are rather good and self explanatory I found them to be very helpful

A:  My husband installed it. He dug a hole as deep as the black piece and as wide as he wanted the base. he got quick concrete and filled the hole with the pole piece centered and with the top at level with the top of the concrete. you may want to cover the opening with tape to keep from getting concrete into the pole as you pure it around the black piece. let it dry . attach the rope and stand the pole up into place.

A:  Jump on the net. Go to Annin flags. Once on their site, go to support and everything is there. Took me 3 minutes and I'm 75 years old.

            Answer This Question

A:  I don't believe there is extra height. I only went down about 12" when concreting the sleeve in the ground. I never measured the pole but am satisfied with the height.

            by|Jul 12, 2020

A:  The poles are a little longer than 18'. But, I got a 2' piece of 2" PVC and put that in the ground with concrete to secure it. The sleeve that comes with it didn't look sturdy enough to keep it stable. I also got the flag pole light to out at the top.

A:  OUR FLAG POLE HAS HAD 80 + WINDS WE HAVE HAD IT UP 4 YRS I HOPE THIS HELPED YOU

            by|May 29, 2020

A:  The pole is made of aluminum. I don't know if it can withstand 80+ mile winds. It depends what you have attached to the top of the pole and how well you have anchored the base into the ground. I am using 2 of these poles which are set 25 feet apart with a 3/8" coiled steel cable with gourd birdhouses attached every 2 feet. They've been up for 2 years so far. I used Quikrete Quick Setting Comcrete to set the base of the tube that the pole fits into. Here's the YouTube video for instructions: https://www.quikrete.com/athome/video-setting-posts.asp I think that if your flag is of reasonable size and the pole is not set too high, you have a good chance of being successful. The taller the pole and the larger the flag, the greater the effects of the wind. Good luck! Sambeezer

A:  It is made of steel.

                by|May 29, 2020

A:  Steel with wall thickness +/- 0.0394" No winds speed rating.

A:  We have had this flag combo for quite a while so not sure how thick it is. I don't know if it would survive a tornado when bldgs can't. 80 mph winds. Ours has taken 50 plus winds with ease. We slid a length of white pvc pipe over it and we feel that helps. It's white so looks good.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Probably, if you concreted in the ground 28 to 30 inches. I have learned in the past to dig out close to the top of "the in ground" section about 15 or 16 inches and 2 or 3 inches deep and pour it all together while cementing the pole to give it more stability. Good luck

A:  Yes, we have had our pole set up for 2 yrs now and never any trouble. We live in a high wind area and our flag still flies. It should easily hold up string lights.

                          A:  No problem!

                          by|May 31, 2020

A:  Probably. You would need one or more support wires/rope on opposite side of pole to minimize swaying in wind and thus damaging string lights. At Christmas I remove flag and run eight string lights to ground to form Christmas tree. I have to leave slack to compensate for wind.

A:  I have not used it like that, but I believe it would support the lights. The pole seems very sturdy.

A:  I have had it up for 4 years now even with all of the heavy winds that North East Ohio has gotten this year and it is still straight. I think the secret would be to set it extra deep!

A:  Yes. Mine is anchored in concrete with bith an American and Oklahoman flag flying. It is pretty tall, too.

A:  Pretty much anywhere flags are sold. The ones that mount on the top are pretty dim. Old glory needs to be illuminated. I have a large floodlight on the side of my garage that illuminates it perfectly and uses a light sensor.

A:  The 18FT Steel pole is designed to be cemented into the ground. We do not recommend the suggested application on a flower box.
