            Answer This Question

A:  This is by design a wall mount unit , but I guess if you have a long enough screwdriver and pre drill holes on the bottom you can screw it down from the bottom inside of the box it is flat but if it will be exposed to wind or kids I would not do it

Q:Why will the lid not stay up? The lid will close over the grocery ads or magazines put in the box which will flatten them? This will eventually wear away the white finish when the lid falls down. The lid should stay up until it is manually shut.

A:  I've got mine mounted on a vertical outside wall and my cover stays open until it's closed. I had to drill a couple of holes on the bottom to allow rain water out. Is it possible you might have overtightened the mounting screws and bent it a little? Try turning the screws out a but.
