Q:since the second coat won't be absorbed by the wood as much as the first, does the surface still need to be dry for 24 hours prior to applying second coat?

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi paula, thanks for your question. It sounds like you're asking how long the first coat of stain needs to dry before applying the second coat. We recommend letting the first coat dry for at least 1 hour before recoating; however, if you want to wait up to 24 hours before applying your second coat, you can certainly do that as well. Have a great day! -Christina

Q:What is the difference between the solid color stain and paint?
          by|May 17, 2024

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi Reagan, thanks for your question. While our solid color stains have a similar appearance to paint, they also have a thinner consistency that allows you to see more of the wood grains than a paint would. Hope this helps! -Christina

            Answer This Question

A:  Hi Joyce, thanks for your question. To prepare your wood surface, we recommend sanding to remove any loose wood fibers (or peeling paint/stain), cleaning with our All In One Wood Cleaner, and allowing the surface to dry before applying our Premium Semi-Transparent Stain & Sealer. Have a great day! -Christina

Q:Have 20 year old treated deck treated with Behr Transparent Waterproofing Finish 5 years ago. Can I go over it with Behr Solid Color Waterproofing Stain and Sealer? Tried stripping the deck but little came off. Can I assume old finish has worn off?

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi ChuckB265, thanks for the question. It's hard to say if the existing coating has completely worn off, but you can apply the Solid-Color Waterproofing Stain and Sealer over the transparent stain. I'd recommend removing any coating that is loose or peeling by scraping, sanding, or power washing and then cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner before applying the new stain. Have a great day! -Ronald
