Answer This Question
A: Hello! The circles at the bottom of the pot are suggested knockout drainage holes. Since you plan on moving it outdoors in the future, our suggestion would be to knock out the holes before adding soil + plants and using a saucer underneath. Our Terra Saucers work well with our Ariana Planters! If you purchase the 20" Living Green Ariana Planter, Model # 304251231 is our Living Green Saucer and should fit perfectly.

Q:How much water do you use initially when you first pot the plant?

Answer This Question
A: Hello, thank you for your question! It will depend on the soil's saturation once you start watering your plant in the pot. If your planters are indoors then we suggest you start by adding just enough water to saturate 60-75% of the soil. For indoor plants, you'll want your soil to stay moist to the touch for 1-2 days and then drier to the touch for 1-3 days (depending on the plant).

Answer This Question
A: Hello, thanks for asking! On the outer bottom of the Ariana planter are several suggested knockout drainage areas, marked with "x". Use a screwdriver (Flat or Philips head will do!) and apply pressure on the "x"s until they pop out. Alternatively, this process can be done with an electric drill instead of a screwdriver.

Answer This Question
A: Thanks for asking! You add water simply when your plant(s) look thirsty. The built-in reservoir at the bottom of the planter prolongs the watering cycle by having accessible water to your plant's roots.

Q:How does the self-watering work if you punch out the drainage holes at the bottom?
by|May 5, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Great question! The self-watering function works when the drainage holes are not punched out. We like to give the option of drainage in case someone loves the look and feel of the Ariana pot but doesn't need the self-watering feature!
