A:  Hi, thank you for your question! Our Dayton planters are made with BPA-free recycled plastic, however, due to the nature of the plastic being a mix of recycled material, it is not food-grade. These planters are best suited for ornamental (non-edible) plants. If you are searching for 100% food-safe and BPA-free planters, we'd definitely suggest checking out our Saturn Planter Collection.

A:  Hi there! The 20-in Dayton Planter holds up to 2.6 cubic feet of potting mix.

A:  Yes, you can put soil right in the planter. It has drain holes molded into the bottom and those are covered by a snap on base.

A:  We didnt use an insert, guess you could though if ya want. We did however put a layer of rock inside it and add a bit of weight.

A:  Go for it, no insert needed.
