Q:ClosetMaid has 12.5" track brackets, Rubbermaid's are listed as 11.5" and Everbilt's are listed as 12". With the ClosetMaid, if I have 48"w x 12"d panels, will 1/2" of ClosetMaid's 12.5" track bracket stick out from underneath the panels?

Answer This Question
A: No, the bracket sticks out about 1/8" if the shelf is properly seated, maybe 1/4" if not. By properly seated I am referring to the notch near the back of the top edge of the bracket where the back of the shelf gets held in place.

Q:Does something secure the bracket to the front edge of the shelf?
Seems like it might possibly move side to side?
(I know it snaps into the standard at the back on the wall.)

A: Good Morning,
Once the shelf has been assembled and clothing has been placed on the shelf the weight of the clothing holds it in place. The weight limit for this type of installation is 44lbs per linear foot evenly distributed across the shelf if installed per manufacturer's recommended guidelines.

A: It is my belief that common sense should prevail here. Consider the construction, and, that these are manufactured for clothes closets. If you are storing 50 pound bags of dog food and stacking them, you probably have exceeded the weight limit. If you're storing shirts, jeans and sweaters, and the shelves are not bending, then you are probably not exceeding the weight limit. Common sense. If you need to store heavy, bulky things, purchase industrial shelving, designed for such purposes. Again, common sense. I think that is what is missing here from the equation.
