Q:Sir: We applied a two-part epoxy paint on our pool and waited too long to apply the second coat. The paint mfg. said we have to lightly sand the entire 1,650 sf. surface to break the surface glaze in order to have the next top coat properly adhere. Our problem it that the surface is highly irregular and being able to completely sand it is next to impossible. Can we use this product to compensate for the small areas we are missing with the sanding and then apply the final epoxy top coat?

    Answer This Question

A:  Adhesive layers must be removed. Use extreme caution; adhesives may contain asbestos fibers. Do not sand or grind adhesive residue, as harmful dust may result. Never use adhesive removers or solvents, as they soften the adhesive and may cause it to penetrate into the concrete. Adhesive residue must be wet-scraped to the finished surface of the concrete, leaving only the transparent staining from the glue. To determine desirable results, do a test bond area before starting. Refer to the RFCI Pamphlet "Recommended Work Practices for Removal of Resilient Floor Coverings" for further information. Q:Specifically, we are looking for a product that allows us to lay glazed ceramic or porcelain tile over pre-existing glazed ceramic tile. Does MBP make that possible, reducing the chances of popped tiles due to poor adhesion?
