As far as I can tell, there is no requirement to wear the beanie when wearing the jacket. In other words, the jacket appears to be capable of producing heat without the beanie on top of your head. However, I cannot confirm this. The heating function may require the beanie to on top of your head as it may act as a control unit. The description is not clear on this matter.

A:  The sleeves are very long and bulky. I returned it and got a heated vest instead because the sleeves seem just too long on all of them. It would fit a very specific body shape/construction, so definitely not "unisex."
