Please purchase the chairmat based on the thickness of your carpet and padding. We have different chairmat thicknesses to choose from. You can measure your carpet and padding by straightening out a paperclip and sticking it through your carpet and through the padding. Hold your finger at the top of the carpet and lay the paperclip on a ruler for the measurement. This will help you to determine what thickness of chairmat you will need to purchase. A:  The picture shown on the Home Depot website for this mat (item #122183) is correct. The mat does have a lip as shown in the picture. The rectangle description provided is a description for the overall shape of the mat.
